Charlie Cox Teases Daredevil Swinging Into Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Charlie Cox is stoking Spider-Man 4 hype, hinting Matt Murdock might crash Peter Parker’s next outing when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters in July. The Daredevil favorite already electrified fans with his No Way Home cameo — and his latest tease suggests he isn’t done with the wall-crawler just yet.
Let me be honest: if there’s one thing Marvel fans love more than a good crossover, it’s waiting around for Marvel to confirm absolutely nothing. Case in point: rumors are swirling that Charlie Cox might bring Daredevil/Matt Murdock back into the Spider-Man universe in the new film, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' And while Marvel isn’t saying a word, Cox himself just weighed in — and it’s about as clear as mud (but way more interesting).
Wait, Is Daredevil Back in Spider-Man?
Remember when Matt Murdock just sort of popped into 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' to hang out with Peter Parker and briefly steal the scene? Yeah, fans have been hoping for a sequel moment ever since. Now, with Tom Holland returning for a fourth Spider-Man movie this July, the internet’s in full speculation mode about whether Daredevil might make another surprise visit.
Charlie Cox Gives the Least Clear Answer Possible
So, here’s where things get amusing. When The Wrap asked Cox directly about these rumors, he did the Marvel-actor thing and sidestepped a clear answer. That’s not to say he wasn’t interesting—he pointed out that back in the Netflix days, characters like his Daredevil absolutely weren’t allowed to crossover into the mainline MCU movies. Now, though, everything seems to be on the table.
"But now that we are — having made these kind of mini-splashes with me in [Spider-Man: No Way Home], Vincent in Hawkeye and Echo, it’s on the table, it’s on the cards. It’s possible, it’s available, and Jon [Bernthal] now going into [Spider-Man: Brand New Day] as well."
Translation: Feige might actually play nice with the Netflix characters after all. And if Jon Bernthal’s name-drop didn’t catch your eye, yes, he’s set to appear in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' too. The plot thickens—or at least gets more crowded.
Marvel Crossovers: Never Say Never
The MCU has built its whole brand around tossing characters into new projects when you least expect it. So even though there’s no official Daredevil announcement for 'Brand New Day,' this is exactly the sort of wink-nudge non-denial that makes fans (and, frankly, bloggers like me) pay extra attention.
Daredevil TV Status: Born Again, Again... and Again
If you’ve just finished 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 on Disney+, don’t get too comfortable. Season 3 is already on the schedule, but you’ll need to be patient: it’s coming in March 2027. (Seriously. The MCU timeline has nothing on the real-life calendar.)
In the meantime, Cox dropped a tasty little tease about what’s coming next for our favorite blind vigilante:
"There is an excellent Daredevil run in the comics that this season, at least at the beginning, pays homage to, which is really, really fun. So when I knew about that, I was very excited, because it’s a very, very cool storyline."
Here’s What’s Actually Concrete
- Tom Holland is back as Spider-Man this July in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.'
- Charlie Cox has not officially confirmed he’ll show up as Daredevil, but he’s laying the groundwork for some kind of MCU team-up.
- Jon Bernthal (Punisher) is also in the mix for 'Brand New Day.'
- 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 just wrapped. Season 3 is due out in 2027.
- Cox teased that the next season will borrow from a big Daredevil comic arc.
So, will Daredevil show up in 'Brand New Day'? If I had to bet, I’d say Marvel probably wants you to think so, but they’ll keep pretending it’s a state secret for a few more months. Stay tuned: If that classic red suit swings through New York to help out Spider-Man, you'll hear about it here first.
