CBS has set its 2025–26 endgame, locking season-finale dates for the NCIS franchise, Tracker, Matlock, and more across its primetime slate.

Well, if you were wondering how CBS plans to land the plane on this TV season (and next), wonder no more. The network just locked in season-finale dates for a whole bunch of its shows—big hits, reboots, newbies, and reality fare—spanning late April all the way through May 2025. It’s an unusually busy slate, with some finales being bigger deals than others, and a handful of these are straight-up ending their runs for good.

Mark Your Calendars—Here’s How CBS Is Wrapping Up

CBS apparently likes to keep things neat and tidy: finales are staggered across the calendar, with a few getting the classic big send-off and plenty quietly slipping out the back door.

  • April 23: Kicking things off, the Matlock reboot (the one with Kathy Bates, yes, that’s real) ends its second season.
  • May 3: The new Sherlock-adjacent series Watson (already canceled after two seasons), says goodbye for good.
  • May 5 to May 12: It’s a pile-up for NCIS fans. NCIS: Origins Season 2 is out May 5, then the mothership NCIS (Season 23!) and the increasingly global NCIS: Sydney (Season 3) both wrap on May 12.
  • May 11: Two confirmed series finales—The Neighborhood (eight seasons, not too shabby) and DMV (one-and-done).
  • May 13: America's Culinary Cup (Season 1) wraps up, hopefully with a little more flavor than the title suggests.
  • May 16: 48 Hours puts a pin in Season 39. (Yes, thirty-nine. Who’s counting?)
  • May 17: 60 Minutes completes its 58th (!) season.
  • May 18: FBI ends Season 8, and CIA (that’s really the name; it’s new) closes its first ever.
  • May 20: Survivor hits a ridiculous milestone: Season 50, folks.
  • May 21: Big closing night for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (eight seasons and out), Ghosts (Season 5), Elsbeth (Season 3), and Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage (Season 2).
  • May 22: Friday drama dump: Fire Country (Season 4), Sheriff Country (debut season), and Boston Blue (debut season) all close up shop.
  • May 24: Tracker (Season 3) and Marshals (new show) bring their seasons to an end.
  • May 27: One surprising straggler—Hollywood Squares—rounds things out as the unofficial season-ender.

What’s Ending for Good?

Four series are officially heading for the big TV graveyard this stretch, all already announced by CBS:

Watson and DMV are short-lived (2 seasons and 1 season, respectively), but The Neighborhood and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert both reach the eight-season mark—pretty impressive by today’s standards.

Other Shows Hitting Notable Milestones

If you like your TV with a side of Guinness Book stats, there’s plenty to gawk at. Survivor is out here hitting Season 50 (seriously, people keep watching it), 60 Minutes is cruising past 58 years, and NCIS is closing on a quarter-century.

Finale Quotes That Sum Up the Mood

'We really wanted to give these shows—and their fans—a chance to say goodbye,' CBS execs said in a statement so bland it basically registered as white noise.

If You’re Tracking at Home…

No, you didn’t miss anything wild—this is just the standard, slightly chaotic network finish: a mix of grand farewells, low-key exits, and probably a few cliffhangers you’ll forget by the time they’re back again.

(Although, let’s be honest, part of the fun these days is seeing which reboots and procedural franchises hang on the longest.)
