A familiar face from Marvel’s Defenders says they weren’t even asked back for Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again — despite appearing across four shows.

Here’s one for the MCU obsessives who’ve kept tabs on which Netflix heroes are being welcomed back into Marvel’s official fold. Remember Carrie-Anne Moss as the cutthroat lawyer Jeri Hogarth? Well, she’s confirmed she won’t be putting in an appearance for Daredevil: Born Again’s third season, slated for release sometime in 2027. Not that she’s turning it down — Marvel apparently never got in touch in the first place.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 will hit Disney+ in 2027, minus Carrie-Anne Moss’s Jeri Hogarth.

The Defenders Divide

If you’ve lost track: Moss’s Hogarth has done her time across four series, including Jessica Jones, Daredevil (just Season 2, that one), Iron Fist, and of course the Defenders miniseries. So with Daredevil: Born Again digging deep into the old Netflix roster, it wouldn’t have been wild to expect her back. But no: when asked directly about a return, Moss’s answer was a flat ‘No’ before the interviewer even finished the question. Make of that what you will, but don’t expect much Hogarth-and-Nelson reunions in the MCU anytime soon.

The pattern with Born Again is mostly casting faces from Matt Murdock’s direct circle, rather than the wider group of Defenders-adjacent types. Bad luck for Hogarth fans, but that’s how Marvel appears to be playing it.

What We’re Missing

Now, if you only ever dipped into Daredevil and missed Hogarth’s lawyering in the other shows, here’s how she fit in. Moss’s version of the character (swapped from male to female for TV, by the way) ruled the roost at Hogarth, Chao & Benowitz. Her been-there, done-that backstory included doing her legal apprenticeship at Rand Industries. She was essentially Jessica Jones’s legal fixer — hiring Jessica for dirt-digging to win court cases, or bringing Foggy Nelson into her firm for superhero-specific headaches. Hogarth was also roped into Danny Rand’s story, helping him claw back his dad’s company after that whole ‘presumed dead in the Himalayas’ phase. Legal drama, vigilante clean-up, and no shortage of moral ambiguity; that was her jam across all those series.

The big twist in the new phase? While Moss isn’t coming back to the courthouse herself, she is apparently game to re-team with Krysten Ritter — aka Jessica Jones — for something else down the line. So it might not be full Defenders reunion, but fans of that lawyer-detective banter can keep half an eye out.
