Born Season 2 Episode 1 Ending Sets Up Daredevil’s Deadliest Villain Alliance Yet
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 explodes out of the gate with New York on edge and Matt Murdock in freefall—then a surgical last-second rescue unmasks a surprising return that sets up a ruthless villainous team-up.
If you thought 'Daredevil: Born Again' was going to play it safe in Season 2, well, Episode 1 just slammed that door shut. The season premiere not only ratchets up the tension — surprise, things in New York are a disaster (again) — but also tosses in a sharp, very intentional twist right at the end that sets up something I didn't expect to see quite so soon.
Matt's Worst Day: Now With Extra Firepower
Let's break down the ending that has fans double-checking which side is up. So, Matt Murdock, having one of those "should’ve stayed home" nights, finds himself on the losing end of a fight with New York's newly energized Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Not only do they manage to pin him down, but they're seconds from yanking off that famous mask and turning him into the biggest headline of the week. Meanwhile, Matt gets momentarily distracted when Cherry — a supporting character — has a heart attack, giving the agents their shot.
Just when you think Matt’s cooked, in comes a hidden shooter with extremely precise aim. We're talking rapid, surgical elimination of every agent in the room. Then — because subtlety is for DC — a knife sails through the air and lands in the chaos. It isn’t just any knife, either. It’s got 'You're welcome' engraved on it, plus the unmistakable Bullseye logo. In case you missed the avalanche of clues, yes, it's Benjamin Poindexter (aka Bullseye) saving the day. Or at least making sure Daredevil doesn’t meet his end at the hands of a badge.
Bullseye's New Game Plan (Maybe?)
If you remember Bullseye from previous seasons — or comics, for that matter — this isn't exactly a guy who's made a habit of saving Matt. They’ve been trying to kill or ruin each other for a while, and last time around, Bullseye tried to take out Fisk, which backfired and nearly got Matt killed. Fast-forward to now, and apparently Bullseye has decided that letting Daredevil get unmasked by Fisk's goons is not on today’s to-do list.
'You're welcome.'
That’s the only message Bullseye leaves, but trust me — the guy doesn’t do thank-yous. This is more setup than olive branch, and definitely not random. The show makes it very clear: Bullseye intervened on purpose, with his usual 'why use one bullet when you can use six' style, and he wants Matt (and anyone else paying attention) to know it.
What's Going On With This Alliance?
- Matt was seconds away from getting unmasked by law enforcement in front of everybody.
- Bullseye — previously Matt's full-time nemesis — bails him out by sniping the agents and leaving a calling card.
- The episode heavily hints that Bullseye has a new agenda this season that, for now, lines up with keeping Daredevil out of Fisk's hands.
- Why the sudden team-up? That's still a mystery, but the implication is they'll both be targeting Fisk’s growing empire — and will stay on the same side, at least while it suits Bullseye.
- Don’t expect trust falls or group hugs — it’s a strategic alliance, not a friendship, and Bullseye's motives are (currently) anyone’s guess.
The episode ends with this as the big turning point. Bullseye just made it clear: he's not Daredevil's enemy, at least for the current crisis. Whether that lasts more than five minutes in the Marvel universe is a different question, but it’s a bold way to kick off the new season.
Next up, Season 2, Episode 2 hits Disney+ on March 31, 2026. Considering how fast things are moving, I’d set your expectations for more surprises (and likely a body count or two).
