A town where nobody dies: Bohemian Rhapsody's Ben Hardy leads Prime Video's new horror series
An X-Men alum nabs the lead in an Arrowverse creator’s Prime Video horror about an ex-con in a town where nobody dies.
Here’s one to file under unexpected career moves. Ben Hardy—yes, the bloke who was Archangel in X-Men: Apocalypse—has landed the lead in a new Prime Video horror series. Not just any grim genre job either; this one comes from Greg Berlanti, the man regularly blamed (or credited, take your pick) for the Arrowverse overload on telly. The show’s called Stillwater, and it sounds like a bit of a head trip.
The premise: Hardy plays Daniel West, an ex-con whose past returns to haunt him via a mysterious letter—a letter hinting not just at answers, but a fat inheritance too, provided he’ll haul himself to the town of Stillwater. The catch? Once he gets there, he finds a community with rules so odd you’ll wish you’d just stayed in prison. The biggest one: no one in Stillwater dies. Which… right, that’s not normal, and probably not in a fun vampire romance sort of way.
Stillwater was officially picked up for an eight-episode run by Amazon in late July 2026.
The Creative Line-up
This one comes with some serious comic-book pedigree. Stillwater is adapted from the Skybound graphic novel by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K Pérez, so there’s proper source material to dig into. The show is a team effort between Warner Bros. Television, Amazon MGM Studios, Skybound Entertainment, and Berlanti Productions. Greg Berlanti exec-produces, and he wrote the pilot script with Carly Wray. At the moment, they haven’t coughed up a premiere date.

Ben Hardy’s Post-X-Men Career
If you’re sitting there thinking, ‘Hang on, wasn’t he also in…’, you’re not wrong. Hardy made his film debut as Archangel in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, but didn’t vanish after that. He did a stint as John William Polidori in 2017's Mary Shelley (yes, the one with Elle Fanning), then properly made a name for himself as Roger Taylor, Queen’s drummer, in the Oscar-behemoth Bohemian Rhapsody.
