Arc Raiders Film and TV Adaptations: Embark CEO Weighs Up Offers
Arc Raiders has caught Hollywood’s eye, but Embark’s Patrick Söderlund insists any adaptation must be handled with care. Find out why the studio is holding back, despite a flurry of interest.
Arc Raiders, the much-discussed extraction shooter, has not only made waves among players and critics since its October 2025 debut, but has also drawn considerable attention from the world of film and television. Yet, despite a flurry of interest from studios, Embark’s chief executive, Patrick Söderlund, remains cautious about letting the IP make the leap to the screen.
“I can't tell you how many companies have reached out to us wanting to make a TV series [or] movie out of this IP. So many,” Söderlund told GamesBeat.
“We don't mind doing that, it will be fun, but it needs to be done in the right way. I mean, I hope that we will do that. I think the IP fits quite well with something like that.”
For now, though, the brakes are firmly on. Söderlund made it clear that,
“We don't have anyone working on a TV or film adaptation yet.”
Hollywood Circling, But No Green Light
Since its release, Arc Raiders has shifted an estimated 12 million copies, with player numbers peaking at over 3 million. The game’s blend of sci-fi action and atmospheric world-building has clearly piqued the interest of production companies eager to translate its universe for a wider audience. However, despite the mounting offers, Embark has yet to sign on the dotted line with any studio.
It’s not hard to see why the property is so appealing. The game’s narrative scope and visual flair seem tailor-made for adaptation, and the current appetite for video game-based films and series is stronger than ever. Still, Söderlund’s insistence on a proper approach suggests a reluctance to rush into a deal that might not do justice to the source material.
Adaptation Fever: The Broader Landscape
While Arc Raiders fans are left to speculate about a possible adaptation, the broader trend of video game properties making their way to the screen continues apace. Fallout’s second series is set to air on Prime Video, and Return to Silent Hill is scheduled for release in January 2026. The success of these projects may well influence how Embark proceeds with its own IP.
For now, the studio appears content to watch from the sidelines, perhaps taking notes as other adaptations find their footing—or stumble. The pressure to capitalise on Arc Raiders’ popularity is certainly there, but so is the risk of a misstep that could alienate the game’s dedicated fanbase.
What Lies Ahead for Arc Raiders?
With no official adaptation in the works, speculation will no doubt continue. Söderlund’s comments suggest a willingness to explore the idea, provided the right creative team comes along. Until then, Arc Raiders remains a hot property, with its future on screen hanging in the balance.
For those keen to keep track of upcoming video game adaptations, there’s no shortage of titles on the horizon, with several slated for release in 2026 and beyond. Whether Arc Raiders will join their ranks remains to be seen.
