Amazon Prime Video rolls out Off Campus, an adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s book series, starring Belmont Cameli and Ella Bright as Garrett and Hannah.

If you asked me what I was doing in December 2025, odds are I was juggling Christmas chaos, trying to avoid my relatives, and—most crucially—ploughing through Crave’s Heated Rivalry. Yes, the one with the feuding hockey lads who end up falling for each other (I’m not made of stone). So when Amazon Prime Video’s new series Off Campus started getting tossed around as a must-watch in the same breath, I couldn’t resist. I basically cleared my diary for 13 May 2026, when all eight episodes dropped in one go. Consider this your warning: put the kettle on, because you probably won’t watch just one episode.

What’s the Craic with Off Campus?

At time of writing, Off Campus has hit the top spot on Prime Video, according to Flix Patrol. Not that I’m surprised—it’s the sort of thing made for weeks where the weather’s rubbish and you want to live vicariously through twenty-somethings who have suspiciously tidy bedrooms.

Here’s the score: Hannah Wells (played by Ella Bright) is a classical music composer at Briar University who’s about to lose her scholarship. Desperate times and all that, so she ditches her comfort zone to have a crack at a pop music contest—a move that would horrify my old music teacher. The show kicks off with Hannah agreeing to tutor the university’s golden boy hockey player, Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), in need of academic salvation. But there’s a catch—Hannah and Garrett have to fake a relationship so she can catch the eye of her painfully egotistic musician crush, Justin Kohl (Josh Heuston). Honestly, you can skip Justin. He’s got the personality of a soggy biscuit.

The classic enemies-to-lovers setup is alive and well here, complete with a mortifying 'meet cute' when Hannah wanders in on Garrett in the shower (completely starkers, as it happens). There’s the sniping and the bickering, but you know full well those insults are just foreplay. The plot doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but the characters carry it.

Familiar Territory—But Better Cast

  • Ella Bright as Hannah Wells – music buff with a chip on her shoulder
  • Belmont Cameli as Garrett Graham – top hockey bloke with daddy issues
  • Josh Heuston as Justin Kohl – insufferable musician (not a compliment)
  • Steve Howey as Garrett’s father – if you ever wondered what it looks like when actors play against type, this is it. He’s downright grim

You get the usual steaminess (yes, shirtless hockey lads, for those who care), but also proper emotional heft. We get a glimpse into Hannah’s rough past and see why Garrett needs to move past his very unpleasant family baggage. I genuinely cringed watching Steve Howey (usually quite likeable) as Garrett’s overbearing dad.

Highlight of episode one for me? Easy: Hannah blowing off steam by belting out Elton John’s 'The B*tch is Back', complete with singing and questionable dancing. There’s also some solid banter—I got a kick out of Garrett accusing Hannah of having 'dated' taste in films because she quotes Dirty Dancing. And, frankly, she does. Good for her.

One-Night Binge Material (But There’s Depth Too)

Off Campus is more than just puck-wielding heartthrobs and pining. If you liked Heated Rivalry or even Tell Me Lies (despite that one being a thriller and not about sport), you’ll spot the similarities—plenty of romance, plenty of deeper stuff underneath. Both leads are dreaming big in music and sport, both are frankly overdue for a self-confidence boost, and yes, you’ll root for them to snog by episode three.

Based on Elle Kennedy’s Book Series

All this drama comes from Elle Kennedy’s 2015 novel The Deal, the first in her Off Campus series. If you’re the type who likes to get ahead of the show, there are more books: The Mistake, The Score, The Goal, and The Legacy—plus a handful of spin-offs (The Graham Effect, The Dixon Rule, The Charlie Method, and Love Song). So, no shortage of material if Prime wants to make this last years.

Prime Video has a knack for milking a book franchise (see: Reacher and Scarpetta), and this one should be no exception. They’d already confirmed a second season in February 2026—'Off Campus renewed for season two', for once a headline worth celebrating before you’ve even finished the first series. There aren’t many things better than starting a show already knowing it’s not going to get cancelled as soon as you’re hooked. The wait for series two begins (and don’t ask me where the next season of Heated Rivalry is, because your guess is as good as mine).

In short: Off Campus is an easy binge, charming as hell, packed with banter, sporting drama, and real feelings. You’ll want the leads to win in love and in life. Now, go on—give it a go. If you don’t blast through all eight episodes in one go, you’re built of stronger stuff than me.
