Star Wars: Ahsoka season 2 is officially set for 2026—good news. The bad: Lucasfilm and Disney+ still won’t narrow down a window, and Dave Filoni says it’s coming while keeping the timing under wraps.

Let me save you some time if you keep hitting refresh for Ahsoka Season 2 news: We do have a release year now (2026!), but as for the precise date, Lucasfilm and Disney+ are still keeping that locked up tighter than a holocron in an Inquisitor vault.

Production Update: Filoni Talks (But Not Too Much)

Dave Filoni, who runs the show both literally and creatively, finally dropped a few nuggets about Season 2 while strutting down the carpet at the premiere of 'Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord.' If you were hoping for anything even remotely close to a month or a day, sorry. He played it coy. There's progress—actual, tangible progress, which is more than we had a few months ago. His key message to fans could basically be boiled down to:

'Working on it. It's coming. I mean, it's come a long way.'

The guy's clearly busy with editing and wrangling visual effects, and he clearly wants you to know the team is putting in serious hours (and, from the sound of it, doing the usual Star Wars post-production marathon). He circled back to the standard studio line, saying there are still 'lots of things' to figure out, but that it's all perfectly normal. In case you need reminding: nothing in Star Wars happens on schedule—ever.

What's cool, though, is Filoni hinted that this time, the Ahsoka crew actually wants to get out and celebrate with fans when the series returns. If you remember, the first season landed during a weird time, so it was all a bit muted and awkward.

And yes, Filoni made a point to say he does know when the show will air, but he's definitely not telling:

'I'm not saying. I might know, yeah, I might know.'

In short: the date is set, but the marketing machine says it's not time yet. He also didn't want anything to overshadow Maul – Shadow Lord, which just launched.

What’s Actually Happening With Season 2?

  • Season 2 is deep into post-production – Dave is editing, visual effects are underway, and the team still has a lot to finalize, but it’s (allegedly) all on track for a 2026 release.
  • The story picks up right where we left off – so, expect plenty of fallout and even more mystical Force weirdness from where last season ended.
  • Filoni wrote all eight episodes – and, unsurprisingly, he’s also directing a few.
  • Other directors on board: Bryce Dallas Howard (she knows her way around a Star Wars set at this point), Jennifer Getzinger, and Anders Engström will each helm episodes too.
  • The cast is basically everyone you want back: Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine), Eman Esfandi (Ezra), Ivanna Sakhno (Shin Hati), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera), and Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn) are all returning. So is the usual crowd of supporting Jedi, Rebels, and Imperial leftovers.

The Bottom Line

So, here’s where we’re at: Ahsoka Season 2 is definitely happening, most of the hard work is either done or in the home stretch, and the 2026 launch is locked in—just don’t expect any further details until Lucasfilm is good and ready. If you’re shocked the process is this secretive, you must be new to Star Wars PR.

Until then, set your hyperdrive for patience.
