Outside of work, she devotes most of her free time to film journalism — watching new releases, following industry news, researching, and writing about cinema and television, with the long-term goal of making film journalism her full-time career.

Emily is drawn to animation, television series, and films that carry more depth than they initially appear to. She also covers streaming releases, independent cinema, and the latest developments across film and television.

What fascinates her most

Stories that reveal unexpected emotional or philosophical depth beneath an accessible surface. Some of her favourite works include Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall, Rick and Morty, and South Park — shows often dismissed as light entertainment or "just animation," but which explore identity, growing up, morality, grief, and the absurdities of modern society. They've shaped how she thinks about storytelling, and continue to influence the criticism and analysis she writes today.
