Disney+ has picked 14 titles to watch before Avengers: Doomsday — two of them are Fox's old X-Men films
Disney+ has spotlighted more than a dozen picks to get you primed for 'Avengers: Doomsday' — so what made the cut?
Disney+ has just gone and given fans a very specific Marvel viewing homework ahead of Avengers: Doomsday hitting cinemas on 18 December. If you log in right now, you'll notice a set of 14 Marvel films and series on the platform, all marked out with a green glow at the edges. Apparently, these are the ones you 'need' to watch if you want to be properly clued in before Doomsday turns up. Fair warning: they're pulling in titles from both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a few oddballs from further afield.
Disney+ has slapped a green highlight on 14 Marvel projects as official viewing prep for Avengers: Doomsday, mixing MCU mainstays with throwbacks like X2 and Loki.
Loki in the Spotlight
On the Disney+ exclusive front, they're treating Loki as essential viewing. Only the two seasons of Tom Hiddleston prancing about as everyone’s favourite God of Stories get this special treatment — not any of the other Marvel streaming shows. The implication is clear: Loki is set to have a major role in Avengers: Doomsday. Not massively surprising, but nice to have it confirmed by Disney's own algorithm.
Old X-Men, no Hugh Jackman (yet)
Now for the slightly odd twist: Disney isn’t just sticking to pure MCU canon. On the carousel, they've included the first two X-Men films from Twentieth Century Fox — that's Bryan Singer’s original 2000 X-Men and the 2003 follow-up, X2. No sign of any of the later X-films in this batch, not even Days of Future Past or Logan. Take from that what you will — I’m betting it’s a hint at who (or what) might crop up in the new Avengers.
Avengers, Spidey, and Some New Blood
Three of the MCU’s original four Avengers movies make the cut, although curious omission: Avengers: Age of Ultron isn’t among them. If you’re keeping score, you get everything except that one and, obviously, the upcoming Doomsday itself. There’s also a nod to Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) for a bit of old-school context, plus you’ll need to revisit Spidey’s wildest team-up: Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
The run-up also includes Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), meaning anyone confused by the multiverse shenanigans will be doing some late-night revision. Letitia Wright’s first solo round as the new Black Panther in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) makes the lineup too, which feels like Marvel inching us towards whatever’s next for Wakanda.

Disney+ is clearly laying a path for newcomers and obsessives alike to follow. Or, more cynically, they're making sure everyone’s up to speed on the multiverse chaos that’s about to go off.
