Ridley Scott is reuniting with the creator of Raised by Wolves — and that sci‑fi brain is the one writing the new Alien movie.

Because apparently the xenomorph never takes a day off, 20th Century Studios is firing up yet another Alien film. The difference this time: they've tapped Aaron Guzikowski — the chap who created Raised by Wolves and penned Prisoners for Denis Villeneuve — to write it. If you were hoping for a direct follow-up to Alien: Romulus, sorry to disappoint. That's not what they're doing here.

The David Arc Returns

Rather than picking up where the last hit left off, word is this fresh instalment will continue the, frankly bonkers, android storyline that Ridley Scott kicked off in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Yes, that means the focus will again be David — Michael Fassbender’s clinically insane robot who fancies himself as Ozymandias. At present, Fassbender himself hasn’t signed on, but you’d assume he’s somewhere in the mix if the film’s all about extending David’s story. Plot specifics? No one’s talking yet; this is Alien, so they’re keeping those eggs close to the chest.

Here’s where it gets interesting. Scott’s not directing — not yet, anyway — but he and Michael Pruss are producing via Scott Free. There’s no director attached at this stage, though given Scott’s history it’s not hard to imagine he might want to bring the David saga in for a landing himself.

During a chat earlier this summer, Ridley Scott teased his Alien return: "I’ve already got a footprint for the next Alien. We did Prometheus, and then Alien: Covenant. So, I’m picking up where we left off in Covenant with Michael Fassbender, who now thinks he’s Ozymandias."

Meanwhile, Over at Romulus

Yes, Alien: Romulus was a big success, and for good reason — set between the original and Aliens, it had that proper “youth versus monster” energy. Director Fede Álvarez isn’t coming back for round two, although he did help write a script for a possible sequel. Finding someone else to direct that one has turned out to be a headache, with various names circling and the rumour mill working overtime. Some even claimed the sequel had been canned, but Steve Asbell (that’s the studio president) shot those rumours down. For now, there’s every chance we’ll see a Romulus follow-up eventually — it’s just looking like Ridley Scott’s David project takes priority in the franchise queue.

The Alien franchise’s David arc — last seen in Covenant — is officially being revived by Aaron Guzikowski, with Scott producing and Fassbender’s return still up in the air.
