Rhea Seehorn says Pluribus season 2’s first script had her firing off texts — and she’s teasing an “insane” return to the Apple TV hit.

If you thought Pluribus season 1 ended with an absolute bang, just wait till you hear what Rhea Seehorn has to say about the next round. Honestly, sounds like she nearly chucked her phone across the room when she read the script. The show's back in action on Apple TV, and Seehorn herself isn’t exactly keeping quiet about how wild things get from the very first episode.

First Impressions: Shock from Page Three

Seehorn recently chatted to ScreenRant about returning to Pluribus for season 2. At the time of the interview, she’d only had her hands on the premiere script — but honestly, that was apparently more than enough. She found herself firing off texts to Vince Gilligan (yes, him) basically right out the gate, as she was already floored by page three. Here’s how she put it to the outlet:

“I just have the first script. That’s all I have, and it’s insane. I was texting Vince [Gilligan] about it by page 3. I was like, ‘What is happening?’”

The chaos doesn’t let up from there, apparently. Seehorn’s own words: this season is emphatically not for the faint-hearted, or anyone hoping the show might take it easy on viewers the second time around. Her co-star on Stick Season 2, Owen Wilson, jumped in on the interview to back her up, saying that when someone reacts like that so fast, you sort of know you’re in for a ride — you’re not getting a gentle ramp-up in pace this season.

Seehorn doubled down, making it clear the opening isn’t going to lull anyone into a sense of security: it’s set to match, if not top, the crazy of last year’s finale.

The Fallout from Season 1

If you need a refresher (and fair enough if you do), last season wrapped up in proper bonkers fashion. Carol Sturka uncovered that the Others had managed to tinker with their virus so it could infect people who were just supposed to be immune. Carol’s answer? She sent Zosia on a mission to nab an atomic bomb. Because why not? Meanwhile, she made a promise to Manousos to help him blow the Others to kingdom come. None of this was exactly subtle.

Apple TV actually renewed Pluribus for another series before anyone had even seen a minute. That’s hardly a small bet — but the writers, for their part, didn’t actually get moving on the scripts until season 1 had fully wrapped up.

Filming on season 2 gets started in Albuquerque this week.

If you’re after an air date, you’ll be waiting a bit. Matt Cherniss, Apple TV’s programming boss, is still playing things close to his chest. In his words, there’s no release date yet. If it follows the last pattern (season 1 shot February to September 2024 then landed on screens in November 2025), you can probably pencil in late 2027 or early 2028 for the new season. Not exactly soon, but nobody can say these lot are rushing it.

While you’re waiting, you’ll be able to see Seehorn in the next season of Stick, which kicks off on 4 November.
