Teach You a Lesson spends ten episodes watching a government squad beat discipline back into Korea's worst schools — and the finale finally settles its central score.

If you've reached the end and want the violence, the verdict and the meaning untangled, here's what happens.

Spoilers for the finale ahead.

How Teach You a Lesson ends

The finale brings down Cho Gyu-cheol, the student drug dealer who murdered teacher Choi Ga-yun two years earlier — the death that drove her grieving father, Education Minister Choi Gang-seok (Lee Sung-min), to found the Educational Rights Protection Bureau in the first place. After the bureau is publicly disgraced, with the media branding its methods state-sanctioned brutality, operations are officially suspended. So inspector Na Hwa-jin (Kim Moo-yul) and his team go rogue, pulling together teachers from every school they'd helped to expose Gyu-cheol's wider drug network and put him back behind bars.

The final showdown

It comes down to a confrontation. Gyu-cheol stabs Hwa-jin in the stomach with a screwdriver — the same kind of blow that killed Ga-yun. But Hwa-jin, a former special-forces captain, isn't so easy to put down. He overpowers the boy and has every reason to finish him.

He doesn't. He spares Gyu-cheol and turns him over to the police instead. Even from custody, Gyu-cheol blames Ga-yun for ever forcing him back to school.

Who ends up where

By the final episode the board is cleared:

  • Gyu-cheol is back in prison — his drug network exposed, this time with no public sympathy to save him.
  • Assemblyman Hwang Gi-tae is arrested — for working with Gyu-cheol; Gang-seok silences his threats with a punch.
  • The bureau carries on — back in a school by the final scene, taking on the next bully.

Will there be a season 2 — and what's it based on?

Netflix lists Teach You a Lesson as a limited series, and the finale closes the Gyu-cheol case, so a second season isn't required for the ending to work. That said, the closing scene — the team rolling into yet another troubled school — makes clear the bureau's job is never done, leaving the door wide open. The series is adapted from the hit Naver webtoon Get Schooled by Chae Yong-taek and Han Ga-ram, and shares a universe with the 2025 drama Study Group.
