What happens at the end of Sullivan's Crossing season 4?
The fourth season of the CW and CTV drama spends its whole run pulling Maggie in two directions — and the finale, "Face the Music", finally makes her choose. She picks Cal. He proposes. And then a knock at the door upends everything.
The love triangle gets resolved
Season 4 revolved around the return of Liam (Marcus Rosner), Maggie's secret ex-husband, whose reappearance in Nova Scotia rattled her relationship with Cal (Chad Michael Murray). The two briefly broke up over it. But by the finale, Maggie (Morgan Kohan) and Cal admit the love between them never went anywhere — they reconcile, and Cal stuns her with a proposal.
She says yes. Then the doorbell rings.
The cliffhanger
A social worker arrives with Tracy — the foster child the couple bonded with earlier in the season — and reveals her foster parents can no longer care for her. The newly engaged pair are suddenly facing the possibility of raising a child together, before they've even set a date.
Kohan told TV Insider in 2026:
"It's not going to be a simple journey."
She also pointed out the complication baked into the setup: Tracy has warmed to Cal far more than to Maggie, so the two will have to figure out how to parent as a team.
So where does that leave everyone?
- Maggie and Cal — engaged, and possibly about to become foster parents overnight.
- Liam — his future at the Crossing is unclear; even Kohan says she hasn't been told whether he returns.
- Sully (Scott Patterson) — still in Ireland, having left at the end of season 3. Patterson has confirmed he won't return for season 5 due to creative differences.
Is there a season 5?
Yes — Sullivan's Crossing has been renewed, with season 5 expected in 2027, premiering on CTV in Canada before airing on the CW and then landing on Netflix. Season 4 itself hit Netflix in the US on 30 June 2026, if you need to catch up.
