What happens at the end of Dutton Ranch
Spoilers for Dutton Ranch episodes 1–5. The show is still airing.
Dutton Ranch is the Yellowstone spinoff starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, reprising their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. The series premiered on Paramount+ on May 15, 2026, with the season 1 finale scheduled for July 3, 2026. Five of nine episodes have aired so far, so a definitive "ending" isn't available yet. Here's where things stand.
How it connects to Yellowstone
In the Yellowstone finale, the Dutton ranch was sold to the Broken Rock Reservation for $1.25 per acre. Beth killed her brother Jamie. She, Rip, and their adopted son Carter moved to a new ranch in Dillon, Montana, planning a fresh start.
Dutton Ranch reveals that plan fell apart. The Montana ranch burned to the ground, forcing the family to relocate to Rio Paloma, South Texas, where they're building a 7,000-acre operation from scratch.
What's happened so far
Beth and Rip quickly discover that South Texas has its own power structure — and it doesn't welcome outsiders. They collide with a ruthless rival ranch led by Beulah (Annette Bening), who controls the region and views the Duttons as a threat. Violence escalates fast enough that Rip establishes a new "train station" (the Yellowstone euphemism for a body dump) by the end of episode two.
By episode 5, Beth has shifted strategy. Rather than confronting Beulah head-on as she would have in Yellowstone, she's infiltrating Beulah's operation from the inside — joining the 10 Petal organisation to learn everything she can. It's a more calculated Beth than fans are used to seeing.
