The 2026 Golden Raspberry Awards shortlist is out, and War of the Worlds leads the pack with six nominations, including Worst Picture. Find out which other films and stars are in the firing line this year.

The latest round of Golden Raspberry Award nominations has landed, and it’s a rather grim showing for War of the Worlds. The science fiction feature, with Ice Cube in the lead as a cybersecurity expert stumbling upon government secrets during an alien onslaught, finds itself up for six Razzies. Among the less-than-coveted categories: Worst Picture. Given its 4% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, few will be shocked by its appearance at the top of the list.

Disney’s live-action take on Snow White hasn’t escaped the Razzies’ glare either, matching War of the Worlds with six nods. Categories include Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screenplay, suggesting the remake failed to win over critics or audiences.

Directors haven’t been spared, either. Rich Lee (War of the Worlds) and Marc Webb (Snow White) are both in the running for Worst Director, joined by Olatunde Osunsanmi (Star Trek: Section 31), Trey Edward Shults (Hurry Up Tomorrow), and the Russo Brothers (The Electric State).

Who’s Up for a Razzie?

The full list of nominees paints a bleak picture for several high-profile productions. For Worst Picture, the contenders are Hurry Up Tomorrow, Star Trek: Section 31, Snow White, The Electric State, and War of the Worlds. The same titles crop up in the Worst Screenplay category, a sign of widespread disappointment.

In the acting stakes, Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye (Hurry Up Tomorrow), Dave Bautista (In the Lost Lands), Ice Cube (War of the Worlds), Jared Leto (Tron: Ares), and Scott Eastwood (Alarum) are all up for Worst Actor. The Worst Actress field includes Ariana DeBose (Love Hurts), Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Section 31), Milla Jovovich (In the Lost Lands), Natalie Portman (Fountain of Youth), and Rebel Wilson (Bride Hard).

Supporting roles haven’t fared much better.

All seven artificial dwarfs (Snow White)

are nominated for Worst Supporting Actor, alongside Greg Kinnear (Off the Grid), Nicolas Cage (Gunslingers), Stephen Dorff (Bride Hard), and Sylvester Stallone (Alarum). For Worst Supporting Actress, Anna Chlumsky (Bride Hard), Ema Horvath (The Strangers – Chapter 2), Ísis Valverde (Alarum), Kacey Rohl (Star Trek: Section 31), and Scarlet Rose Stallone (Gunslingers) are in the mix.

Screen Combos and Sequels Under Fire

The Razzies’ penchant for highlighting odd pairings continues.

All seven artificial dwarfs (Snow White)

are up again for Worst Screen Combo, as are Ice Cube and his Zoom camera (War of the Worlds), James Corden and Rihanna (Smurfs), Robert DeNiro and Robert DeNiro (The Alto Knights), and The Weeknd and his Colossal Ego (Hurry Up Tomorrow).

When it comes to remakes, rip-offs, or sequels, the nominees are Five Nights at Freddy's 2, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Smurfs, Snow White, and War of the Worlds. It’s a tough year for reboots and follow-ups, it seems.

Controversy and Past Razzie Moments

Since their inception in 1981, the Razzies have drawn criticism for being, as some put it,

"mean-spirited", "petty", and "unfunny"

. Calls for the event to be scrapped have surfaced repeatedly, but so far, the show goes on. The organisation has occasionally had to backtrack, such as when it apologised for nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Firestarter) and rescinded Bruce Willis’s “award” after his aphasia diagnosis was made public.

There have been rare occasions when a performer has picked up both a Razzie and an Oscar in the same year. Alan Menken managed the feat in 1993, winning Best Original Song at the Academy Awards and Worst Original Song at the Razzies for different films. Sandra Bullock famously collected her Worst Actress Razzie for All About Steve in 2010, only to win Best Actress for The Blind Side the following day.

The 46th Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony is scheduled for 14 March. As the industry braces for the annual roast, film fans are already looking ahead to the next wave of releases. Which 2026 title are you most eager to see: Avengers: Doomsday, Supergirl, The Mandalorian and Grogu, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, or The Odyssey?
