James Gunn has offered DCU fans a steer on when to expect Man of Tomorrow’s trailer — if you’re counting the days, this is the hint you wanted.

So, everyone's been buzzing for a glimpse of Man of Tomorrow, and if you've been scouring the internet for any sign of a trailer, here's what's actually going on. James Gunn has had to step in personally to put some of the wilder rumours to bed, and let's just say — don't get your hopes up for a sneak peek any time this year.

Man of Tomorrow will not be dropping a trailer in December 2026, despite recent online speculation.

Trailer Speculation Hits a Wall

It all started when a post on Threads suggested we'd be getting our first proper look at Man of Tomorrow come mid-December, claiming it would land alongside Dune: Part 3. Gunn wasn't having it. After someone tossed the rumour his way, he responded (in that very public, Gunn sort of way) to ask who, exactly, was expecting this December reveal in the first place. The chatter didn't stop there, and when a fan tried to spin it as Gunn being a spoil-sport, he shot back that he just didn't want people to get disappointed when there's actually no trailer at all this December.

So, in plain English: there's zero chance you'll see that trailer this year, and considering the heavy implications from Gunn, it's looking like we might be waiting until 2027 for any official footage. There's still no word at all from Warner Bros. about when we might actually see it.

What We Actually Know

Right, on to the film itself. Man of Tomorrow is pitched as a direct sequel to Gunn's Superman from 2025, and part of the ongoing DCU saga he's now steering (that lovely branded chapter title: Gods and Monsters). Don't expect major spoilers yet, but we do know the broad strokes: Superman and Lex Luthor are teaming up — and that should tell you just how bad the situation is — to face off against Brainiac, who isn't some minor villain but a proper alien android with a brain to match the name. Any finer details are being kept well under lock and key, so don't bother digging for leaked storyboards.

  • David Corenswet returns as Clark Kent.
  • Nicholas Hoult stays on as Lex Luthor.
  • The regulars are back: Rachel Brosnahan, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Frank Grillo, Aaron Pierre, and Milly Alcock.
  • Lars Eidinger takes on Brainiac (one to keep an eye on — he's mainly known for German indie cinema and the odd rap video, so that casting's genuinely left of field).
  • Adria Arjona has signed on for an unnamed part, and fans are already guessing it'll be Maxima, the queen from planet Almerac.
  • Other mysterious roles to be filled by Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, and Sinqua Walls.

The official cinema release date for Man of Tomorrow is locked in: 9 July 2027.
