Who's in the Tuner cast? The 2026 caper pairs a White Lotus breakout with a two-time Oscar winner
Daniel Roher's first narrative feature pairs a 29-year-old British lead with a Hollywood veteran, then fills the margins with a Fauda star and a French screen fixture. Here's who plays who, and what each of them brought to it.
The billing reads like a casting director settling a private bet. An actor best known for playing an Essex lad in Sicily, top-lining opposite a man with two Academy Awards at home.
Tuner stars Leo Woodall as Niki White, a piano tuner whose hyperacusis — an unusually acute sensitivity to sound — makes him extraordinarily good at hearing tumblers fall inside a safe. Dustin Hoffman plays Harry Horowitz, the mentor whose medical debt pushes Niki into the work. The film opened in US theaters on 22 May 2026 and landed on Paramount+ on 21 September.
The lead
Woodall was born in Hammersmith on 14 September 1996 and graduated from Arts Educational School in 2019. His break was The White Lotus season 2, as Jack, a performance he built partly by studying Joey Essex's accent, and it was followed by Netflix's One Day in 2024 opposite Ambika Mod, Apple TV+'s Prime Target, and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. He was a Screen International Star of Tomorrow in 2023.

Tuner is his first outright lead in a feature, and the reviews treated it as a promotion.
"Announces Leo Woodall as a compelling star talent," read Rotten Tomatoes' critics consensus, where the film sits at 94% across 191 reviews.
The two-time Oscar winner
Hoffman's two Best Actor wins came for Kramer vs. Kramer and Rain Man, and Harry Horowitz is the kind of part those wins buy you decades later — the older craftsman whose situation sets the plot running and whose scenes give a caper its weight. He's been the headline in most of the streaming coverage, which is how a $7 million indie gets written about at all.
Who else is in it
- Havana Rose Liu as Ruthie — a composition student, and the film's romance.
- Lior Raz as Uri — the criminal side of the arrangement. Raz created and starred in Fauda.
- Jean Reno — the French screen veteran, in support.
- Tovah Feldshuh — four-time Tony nominee, also in support.
The mix is deliberate: a British lead, an American legend, an Israeli star and a French one, in a New York safecracking story about a man with a very specific ear.
The director is the other surprise
Daniel Roher had never made a narrative feature before this. He made Navalny, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2023. He co-wrote Tuner with Robert Ramsey, shot it for $7 million, premiered it at Telluride on 30 August 2025, and put it on TIFF's Canada's Top Ten list for the year.
For the record: the film runs 107 minutes, is rated R, and made $9.8 million worldwide before streaming — more than its budget, on four opening screens.
