In a candid HugoDécrypte interview, Tom Holland addressed his MCU future with a pointed caveat — the sort that could put the brakes on hopes for Spider-Man 5.

Let’s talk Tom Holland and the future of Spider-Man, which, at this rate, is looking less settled than ever. If you missed it, Holland’s just thrown a spanner in the works with a single word, and the rumour mill’s gone full throttle—so let me break down where things stand, what he’s actually said, and all the odd bits swirling round his next moves.

Holland was asked recently if he’d like to come back for a fifth Spider-Man film, and his entire answer was: “Pass.”

That little response came during a guest spot on the HugoDécrypte – Grands formats YouTube show, where he turned up alongside Zendaya. For a bloke who’s been Spider-Man since he was a teenager, it was remarkably blunt—and, if you’re a fan, probably not what you were hoping to hear. So, yes, "Spider-Man 5" isn't looking terribly likely at the moment, and the already-murky future of the web-head feels a touch more uncertain.

What's Actually Next?

It’s not just about the standalone films, mind. There’s a bigger MCU picture. People are speculating whether Spider-Man will even be in the post-Avengers: Secret Wars line-up; there’s talk of a full Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot following those last Avengers films. At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess if Holland—or any version of Peter Parker—will stick around after that supposed shake-up.

“Brand New Day,” Holland’s recent Spider-Man outing, launched to plenty of praise from critics, but there’s absolutely no guarantee it’ll be followed by another go-around for his version of Spidey.

Just to be clear, there’s no official confirmation that Holland is down to appear in the next pair of team-up outings, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. He played a crucial part in the last couple of Avengers films (let’s not forget Infinity War and Endgame), and fans definitely expect him back…but the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday trailer doesn’t show the spandex-suited lad at all. Not even a web in sight.

Holland’s Other Projects

Since wrapping on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland’s not exactly been twiddling his thumbs. Right after slinging webs, he went off to work with Christopher Nolan on The Odyssey, playing Telemachus, who’s the son of Odysseus (Matt Damon, in case you missed it) and Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway). By all accounts, his work there had critics impressed—perhaps even more so for his dynamic with Hathaway.

Next up, Holland’s trying his hand at a proper biopic, stepping into the dancing shoes of Fred Astaire for an upcoming film. So, even if he’s hanging up the Spidey suit for good, he doesn’t appear short of things to do.
