Tom Holland and Iron Man 3 writer land a new movie together
Fresh off Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s record-breaking run, Tom Holland lines up a new film — and he’s not just starring, with the Iron Man 3 writer involved.
Tom Holland has found his next gig after smashing it yet again with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. But this isn’t just another starring role for Holland—he’s got his hands in the behind-the-scenes work as well, which suggests he’s not content with just web-slinging.
New Project, New Role
Deadline reports that Holland is attached to lead Penthouse, a new project that’s just been picked up by Sony Pictures. What makes this one interesting is the team behind it. The concept comes from Drew Pearce—the bloke who wrote Iron Man 3, so he knows his way around a blockbuster—and he’ll also be doing the screenplay. Holland’s own production outfit, Billy17, is helping to bring it together, partnering up with Pearce’s Point Of No Return. Ian Fisher from Pearce’s camp is on board as executive producer, and word is that Holland and his team at Billy17 are playing a big part in shaping things up, though it’s all still a bit secretive on the story front.
Plot details? Not a whisper. Officially, it’s being called a thriller, but beyond that, lips are sealed. No other cast confirmed yet either, so anyone hoping for a Holland/Zendaya reunion will have to wait.

More Than Just Spider-Man
This isn’t Holland’s only big move with Sony on the cards. He’s signed up to star as Fred Astaire in that long-gestating biopic, which will see him dancing alongside Margaret Qualley, Sabrina Carpenter, and Talia Ryder. It’s a crowded schedule, and Holland seems keen to make the most of his good standing with the studio.
If you’re hoping to spot him back as Peter Parker in the next Avengers epic, there’s plenty of speculation, but nothing locked in. Talk has swirled around Avengers: Doomsday, but Holland’s return is still up in the air at the moment.
As for more Spider-Man, even Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has stepped in to say that both Holland and Zendaya are due a well-earned breather. Speaking to Variety back in August, he made it clear that there’ll be a pause before any plans for Spider-Man 5 get underway.
