Tom Hardy hasn’t been shown the door at MobLand—at least not yet. A fresh Season 3 update leaves his status in limbo, keeping fans guessing about whether he’ll be back.

If you follow showbiz news even half-heartedly, you probably caught whispers earlier suggesting Tom Hardy had been given the boot from MobLand. As it turns out, things aren’t quite as clear cut as that, and the real story is a bit more… murky.

Is Tom Hardy Actually Out?

So here’s where we’re at: despite reports flying around about Hardy getting chucked off the set, he hasn’t been fired – at least, not yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his position on the show is 'very much in limbo.' In other words, it's still anyone’s guess.

What's holding it up, you ask? Well, MobLand isn’t even officially coming back for a third series yet. They’ve set up a writers' room to bash out ideas and see where the plot might go, but Paramount+ hasn’t signed off on another run. Clearly, they'd like the option, but no one’s pressing the big green button just yet. Until they do, nobody’s formally sacked or kept on.

Behind-the-Scenes Drama

So, what’s caused all this aggro? Allegedly, Hardy’s not seen eye to eye with Jez Butterworth (one of the big exec producers) and the higher-ups at David Glasser’s 101 Studios. Reports claim Hardy’s been turning up late, handing out script notes uninvited, and even trying to rewrite some of his dialogue—not always the most popular way to win friends on set. Oh, and he supposedly isn’t thrilled about the idea of the show shifting towards more of an ensemble vibe. That’s… bold, considering telly is basically a team sport.

One insider sums it up: Biggest reason nobody’s officially sacked Hardy yet? There isn’t even a new series greenlit to sack him from.

If Hardy Leaves, What Then?

Here’s a twist: apparently, MobLand is doing well enough numbers-wise that Paramount+ reckon they could carry on without Hardy if it comes to that. They've not ruled out a recast for his character—or at least, they're not panicking about it publicly. If you ask me, it's a tad optimistic to act like you can just swap out Tom Hardy and the audience won’t notice, but hey, stranger things have happened in TV land.

  • Cast: Tom Hardy (Harry Da Souza), Pierce Brosnan (Conrad), Helen Mirren (Maeve), Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Teddie Allen, and Paddy Considine.

So When’s Season 2 Out?

Don’t hold your breath just yet. According to Guy Ritchie—he’s directing and producing—the second series of MobLand won’t show up until the back end of 2026. So you’ve got a bit of a wait on your hands there.

If you missed the first round, MobLand (with all of Hardy’s supposedly freewheeling dialogue included) is streaming right now on Paramount+.
