Ti West’s X horror trilogy lands on Hulu today with Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega

Here we go then – Mia Goth and Jenna Ortega’s infamous horror trilogy has finally dropped on Hulu. If you’re in the mood for a bit of psychological horror (with a heavy touch of retro and gore) the entire lot is now available to stream in one go, starting 3 August 2026. No more fussing about for physical media or scouring random shops for a Blu-ray. Hulu’s sorted it.

X, Pearl, and MaXXXine – Ti West’s entire trilogy – landed on Hulu on 3 August 2026, all at once.

So what’s the big deal with these films?

Let’s lay it out: This trilogy kicked off with X back in 2022, rapidly followed by its prequel Pearl that same year, and then capped off with MaXXXine in 2024. All three written and directed by Ti West, who quite frankly lays it on thick with his love for throwback slasher aesthetics and slightly madcap storytelling. Mia Goth plays the lead throughout, and even got a co-writing credit for Pearl. So, if you want the throughline, she’s it.

The first two – X and Pearl – were darlings with critics when they hit cinemas, pulling in Rotten Tomatoes scores of 94% and 93% respectively. By the time we got to MaXXXine in 2024, the love had cooled off a bit – that one’s sitting on a decent but distinctly lower 73%.

The films in order (not release order – actual chronological story order):

• Pearl (2022) – a 1918-set origin story for the unhinged farm-dwelling killer. Mia Goth, again, front and centre, with David Corenswet, Tandi Wright, Matthew Sunderland, Emma Purro, and Alistair Sewell in tow.
• X (2022) – set in 1979 Texas. Goth plus Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, Kid Cudi, Martin Henderson, Owen Campbell, Stephen Ure, and James Gaylyn. Bit of a horror-in-the-barn-with-porn-crew premise – film crew rents a farmhouse for an adult flick, but their elderly hosts aren’t exactly cuddly. You can guess the rest.
• MaXXXine (2024) – this is your finale, transplanting the series to 1980s Hollywood. Maxine (Goth, naturally) heads west chasing acting stardom and winds up with yet more murderous mayhem. Extras this time include Charley Rowan McCain, Simon Prast, Deborah Geffner, Daniel Lench, Elizabeth Debicki, Chloe Farnworth, and Brad Swanick.

It’s worth noting Ti West has said this main storyline wraps with these three, but he did drop hints about being open for a potential fourth film in the same universe. That’s never actually materialised, though, and there’s been zero official movement since he last brought it up.
