The Legally Blonde prequel Elle just premiered — and season 2 is already a go
Hot off its July 1 premiere, Prime Video’s Elle is already stirring big Season 2 buzz. The Legally Blonde prequel rewinds six years before the first film to follow teen Elle Woods, with Lexi Minetree stepping into the role.
Well, here’s a bit of rapid-fire telly news – Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel, Elle, has barely had a chance to stretch its legs since dropping on 1 July 2026, but there’s already major movement on Season 2. If you weren’t aware (and let’s be honest, the marketing has certainly tried to make you aware), this one rewinds to six years before Reese Witherspoon turned Elle Woods into a millennial icon, focusing on her somewhat less pink-hued teenage days. Lexi Minetree is the one pulling on the famous shoes this time round.
Season 2 Already Wrapped… Before Anyone Saw Season 1
Now, here’s where it gets interesting: Prime Video actually renewed Elle as far back as January – in other words, months before anyone had even seen an episode. That’s a fair bit of blind faith, if you ask me. Might also be a sign they’re quite anxious for a new 'young adult' anchor, but that’s just me speculating over my tea.
Jacob Moskovitz, who plays Miles on the show, confirmed they’ve already finished filming Season 2. To be honest, that might explain some of the breakneck pace behind the scenes. And he also let slip a little bit of casting news that some of you will no doubt be quite chuffed about – Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (yes, her from Never Have I Ever) is joining the series for the second season.
'We just finished filming. I can tell you that we have a wonderful castmate joining us, which is public information. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is amazing to work with. I'm really excited for everyone to see her performance and what she brings to the world.'
A Quick Recap of Where the Story’s Headed
Season 2, according to co-showrunner Caroline Dries, kicks off immediately after where Season 1 leaves off – and apparently, there’s some sort of huge cliffhanger involved (no spoilers, don’t worry). She says we’ll see Elle feeling out of place as ever, running into new characters, and dealing with what are described as 'crises in greater Seattle', which I suppose is shorthand for teenage melodrama plus whatever else they can fit in.
June Diane Raphael, who plays Elle’s mum Eva, has declared this second outing, and I quote, 'even better' than the first – 'more heart, more comedy', the whole lot. Not exactly unbiased, but take it as you will.
