The Housemaid's Secret has found the man who gets tangled up with Sydney Sweeney's Millie
Sydney Sweeney’s The Housemaid’s Secret has bagged an Off Campus breakout for a key role — the sequel’s latest casting comes with a name you’ll recognise.
Here we go again in the world of successful thrillers getting sequels. Lionsgate is banking on another hit for its follow-up to last year’s surprise sensation, bringing in some fresh talent from the small screen while sticking with its headliners.
New Faces for the Sequel
Stephen Kalyn is joining Sydney Sweeney for The Housemaid’s Secret, Lionsgate’s next psychological thriller attempt. If Kalyn’s name rings a bell, you’ve probably seen him in Off Campus, where he had his big breakout performance. This time, he’s playing Brock, a lawyer who inevitably gets tangled up with Sweeney’s Millie in ways they’ll no doubt tease until opening night. The announcement rolled out with a video: Kalyn, 28, thumbing through Freida McFadden’s novel of the same name, then wandering onto the film set—just in case you weren’t sure of the connection.
The original film, The Housemaid, raked in over $400 million worldwide on just a $35 million budget.
So, yeah, plenty of incentive to keep this story going. Critics gave the first film a decent nod (it’s currently at 74% on Rotten Tomatoes), while general audiences were even more generous with a massive 92% audience score. That kind of reception just doesn’t get ignored in Hollywood.
The Premise This Time
The Housemaid’s Secret picks up with Millie—yes, the same one—trying to get her life back on track. Despite her criminal past, she lands another housekeeping job, clearly undeterred by her last round of property-based trauma. The twist this time is that she’s cleaning for someone she’s never actually seen, but, of course, there’s a locked door and secrets ‘far darker than her own’ waiting just out of sight—at least according to the official blurb.
If you’ve read Freida McFadden’s book, you more or less know what’s coming, but there’s always room for a few cinematic curveballs. For everyone else, it’s all about finding out what’s actually behind that door.

Paul Feig (yes, the Ghostbusters director himself) is back behind the camera, working with a script by Rebecca Sonnenshine. The producing lineup is a bit of a who’s who: Sweeney for Honey Trap, plus Todd Lieberman, Laura Fischer (Hidden Pictures), and Feig again for his Pretty Dangerous Pictures.
Lionsgate is aiming for a big theatrical release on 17 December 2027.
