Here we go again: a fresh spin on the classic character is on the way — and what’s different this time is the bit you’ll want to find out.

Here we go again – another crack at Robin Hood. You would think Hollywood had run out of angles for the man in green tights, but no, not quite. If you've been paying attention this year, you might have noticed we got not one, but two film versions recently, both giving the legend a rather sideways treatment. And just when you thought the archery quotas had been filled, along comes a third: The Lie of Sherwood Forest.

The Lie of Sherwood Forest is now in the works, with Thomasin McKenzie, Finn Cole, and Antony Starr locked in to star.

Yet Another Twist

What sets this new project apart? Well, apparently it's not just the usual robbing-the-rich bit. Instead, this one is being framed around a heist – yes, as in a classic caper flick, but with bows and arrows on the side. It's being directed by Patrick Vollrath, and frankly, that's a bit of an eyebrow-raiser for fans, since his previous work hasn't exactly screamed 'Nottingham action set-pieces.'

The Cast and Crew

  • Thomasin McKenzie – coming off high-profile roles and poised to add some actual nuance, which is always welcome in a retelling like this.
  • Finn Cole – likely to bring a bit of rough-around-the-edges energy, depending on how they recast the merry men or villains this time.
  • Antony Starr – with his reputation for playing characters who aren't averse to a bit of chaos, you can probably guess which side he lands on.

The official plot hasn't been tossed around too publicly yet, but expect more outwitting than outright revolution if they're leaning into the heist concept. If you're keeping track, that's three Robin Hood films in a single calendar year – which is as mad as it sounds. Someone, somewhere, is convinced the world was crying out for more hooded archery and rule-breaking in the woods.
