Paramount+ locks the release window for Special Ops: Lioness Season 3 after filming wraps, setting the stage for the spy thriller’s next mission.

If you are waiting on Special Ops: Lioness to come back for Season 3, there is finally something solid to hang your hat on. Paramount+ has confirmed that we can expect the show to return before 2026 wraps up. Not exactly right around the corner, but at least we are not left refreshing our feeds with zero hope.

So, When Can You Actually Watch It?

Let me give you the clearest timeline possible with the info out there right now:

  • The show was officially renewed for a third season in October 2025 (they took their time on that one).
  • Shooting for Season 3 wrapped up in Fort Worth, Texas in March 2026.
  • Paramount+ says the new season will premiere sometime in 2026, but there is no exact date yet.
  • Actor Michael Kelly—who, yes, is back this season—recently said in an interview that he thinks episodes will drop 'somewhere around the end of the summer.' He immediately added that this isn't official, just his best guess. Do what you want with that info.

If you missed what Kelly said, here it is set off in all its noncommittal glory:

'We have completed it, and I don’t know for sure [what I can tell people], but I think it’s [coming out] somewhere around the end of the summer, probably, it’ll come out. It’s really good, man. Really fun.'

Translation: filming is a wrap, and everyone is just as much in the dark as we are about when the episodes will actually drop.

Who’s Back For More Spy Games?

If you were into the cast the first two times around, good news—most of the faces you know are sticking around. Zoe Saldaña is back as Joe McNamara, and Nicole Kidman returns as Kaitlyn Meade. (If you didn’t realize Kidman is also an executive producer on this show, now you know.)

Other familiar names returning for season 3:

  • James Jordan
  • Lamonica Garrett
  • Austen Hébert
  • Laysla De Oliveira
  • Genesis Rodriguez

And in terms of fresh faces, Ian Bohen is bumping up to series regular territory, and Elizaveta Neretin is joining the party.

What’s the Story This Time?

Somewhat surprisingly (or maybe not, considering how secretive Taylor Sheridan tends to be), there are absolutely no details out there about the actual plot of Season 3. Not a peep. So for now, you just have to assume more international spy missions, tense briefings, and, most importantly, more Nicole Kidman giving her patented intense stares.

Long story short: Season 3 is done filming, you will see it before New Year’s Eve 2026 (barring any unforeseen calamity), and the official window is pointing at late summer. If they drop a firm date—or literally any clue about what the squad is up to this season—you’ll hear about it here.
