Snoop Dogg movie just snagged a Euphoria favourite to play Warren G — nice fit
Snoop has recruited a huge Euphoria star for Warren G — and Universal has dated the biopic for August 6, 2027.
You know you're officially A-list when Hollywood does your life story — and if anyone deserves the spotlight, it's Snoop Dogg. The much-hyped biopic simply called Snoop is picking up steam, landing another fairly big TV name for a key role in Snoop's world.
Snoop lands in cinemas nationwide on 6 August 2027.
The New Warren G: Casting News
The latest bit of casting: Algee Smith (yes, Chris McKay from Euphoria) has just signed on to play Warren G. You might also know Smith from The New Edition Story and the drama film Detroit, so he's clearly no stranger to heartfelt storytelling or the music biz. Warner G — for those not keeping up — was central to Snoop's early years, not just as a West Coast hip-hop legend in his own right, but the guy who formed 213 (with Nate Dogg) and basically introduced a young Snoop to Dr. Dre. It's one of those turning points that shaped 90s rap — so, no casual role for Smith to step into.
Who's Playing Who?
- Jonathan Daviss stars as Snoop Dogg himself. You'll likely recognise him as Pope from Outer Banks.
- Myles Bullock Be is taking on Dr. Dre. (Big shoes to fill — Dre more or less launched Snoop as a solo artist.)
- Camron Jones will play Tupac Shakur, never an easy portrayal considering Tupac's legacy.
- Lauren London appears as Beverly Tate, Snoop's mum. If you watched ATL, you know London can do heartfelt and grounded in her sleep.
Shooting on Snoop gets underway around mid-September, all over Los Angeles and its edges, under the direction of Craig Brewer. Details on the full script or approach are still being kept close, so don't expect a full rundown of whether it'll dig deep into feuds, chart wars or just be Snoop narrating his own wild life with the camera rolling. But with that release date and the cast shaping up, expect a serious profile of one of rap's genuine icons.
