Slow Horses is about to drop its sixth season in five years, and season 7 is already penned in for 2027
Before Season 6 even lands, Gary Oldman’s misfit spies have their next mission already in the diary — the when and which will raise eyebrows.
Right, let’s not beat around the bush – Slow Horses was one of the big shots for Apple TV back when it launched in 2022, helping the streamer actually look like it belonged in the same conversation as Netflix or Prime. Audiences instantly bought into this dark, shambolic MI5 drama, and so did a fair few critics. Nearly four years on, we’re about to hit season six, and at this point Slow Horses has basically become Apple’s TV mascot, outlasting pretty much every other drama the platform’s bothered to keep around.

No Endless Waits Here
In streaming, let’s face it, you’re lucky if your favourite show doesn’t take a three-year nap before the next series turns up. But Slow Horses is stubbornly old school – since those first two seasons dropped back in 2022 (yes, both in one year), there’s been a new run every year, clockwork-like: season 3 in 2023, season 4 in 2024, season 5 in 2025, and now here comes season 6 landing 16th September 2026. That’s six straight years of reliably gritty, awkward, and occasionally hilarious espionage telly, turning it into a rarity in the current all-over-the-shop streaming world.
And that release rhythm doesn’t look set to break any time soon. When asked about a possible season 7 hitting screens in 2027, Christopher Chung – who plays Roddy – put it bluntly to ScreenRant:
‘I think that’s the plan. I think it’s been pretty much like clockwork since season 3. So I think 2027 is a good bet for Season 7.’
What’s Incoming: Season 6 and Beyond
This sixth outing picks up right where last year left off: with the entire misfit team of Slough House in deeper water than ever, now being dragged into a particularly nasty power game by Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner. High stakes, revenge, the works. If you’ve been wondering about Olivia Cooke’s Sid Baker (who’s effectively been in limbo since season one), the new series has her back, and yes, that means there are going to be some questions answered. Weekly episodes drop each Wednesday from launch day.

The cast is still absolutely stacked: Gary Oldman (who, in case you missed it, has now picked up Golden Globe, Emmy, and BAFTA nods for this role), Jack Lowden, Jonathan Pryce, Freddie Fox, Rosalind Eleazar, plus Cooke and Scott Thomas. If you’re new, the premise is straightforward enough: Slough House is MI5’s dumping ground for screw-ups, and Oldman’s Jackson Lamb is their shambolic, borderline-offensive boss wrangling the lot of them through British bureaucracy and spy games gone wrong.
