Silo Season 3 just went for the jugular: Episode 3 shoves fan-favorite Juliette to the brink after a brutal mine attack, then Camille unleashes rat-killing gas. It’s a suffocating cliffhanger, and viewers are losing it.

If you thought Silo was done spinning out bleak surprises, think again. The Apple TV dystopian drama is clearly not afraid to chuck its star players into the lion's den—and Series 3, Episode 3 ramps things up in a way I genuinely didn’t see coming. Juliette, poster-child for righteous troublemaking, spends nearly the whole episode with one foot in the grave, and there are moments you’ll probably need to replay just to process what actually happened.

You want grim? Try a rat poison gas attack

Let’s break down what actually goes on in the episode:

  • Camille, clearly feeling the pressure, starts believing Lukas (yes, that Lukas) is hiding out in the mines. In her infinite wisdom, she tells Chris to flood the place with rat-killing gas—workers be damned.
  • Chris points out that gassing a bunch of miners seems a bit out of order, but Camille isn’t fazed. Gas gets released, several miners take a proper beating from the fumes, and Orla turns up dead in the chaos.
  • Juliette, doing what she does best, nabs a gas mask and heads in to try and save whoever she can. This lasts until one of the spooked workers steals her mask, leaving her to suck down toxic air—not ideal for the lungs, obviously.
  • Just as she’s about to check out completely, Lukas emerges from the shadows to drag her out. Raiders nearly spot him (presumably adding to everyone’s anxiety levels), but Sandy and Danny give him a hand escaping.
  • The episode wraps with Juliette unconscious in the recovery room, Amy, Chris, and Camille all awkwardly hovering nearby. At this point, The Algorithm (still the most chilling non-character on telly at the moment) suggests to Camille that now might be the moment to finally rid the silo of Juliette. The logic is brutal: if she dies now—and the gas gets the blame—it’ll snuff out any flicker of hope among the population, all without resorting to a mass memory wipe. ‘Organic’ despair; how comforting.

Camille: past the point of no return?

Camille hesitates (she’s not a complete monster, apparently), but The Algorithm reminds her there’s a hostage crisis brewing. Juliette, with her constant sleuthing, is painted as an existential risk to the whole system. By the end of the episode, Camille all but agrees to The Algorithm’s cold, calculated plan.

Fans: not coping well

The whole nail-biting sequence sent viewers into meltdown online. A fair few were left gutted by the attack on Juliette, one chiming in:

'Oh poor Juliette. Now The Algorithm wants to kill her.'

Another fan couldn’t cope with Lukas’s last-minute heroics:

‘Lucas saving Juliette omg my heart.’

And, for good measure, someone summed up the whole rescue and aftermath:

'Lukas Kyle saved Juliette from suffocating. But he had to run away.'

However you slice it, the fallout for next week is going to be colossal. Silo Series 3, Episode 4 drops this Friday on Apple TV.
