Sebastian Stan is reportedly in discussions for The Batman: Part II, with a recent social media post from his stylist fuelling speculation about which Gotham character he might portray. Find out what’s got fans talking.

Whispers around Gotham’s cinematic future have grown louder, as Sebastian Stan is said to be negotiating a part in Matt Reeves’s next Elseworlds instalment. The rumour mill, already in full swing, received a fresh jolt when Michael Fisher, a stylist based in New York and known for working with Stan, shared an image of the actor styled as Harvey Dent—better known to comic enthusiasts as Two-Face. The post, which quickly made the rounds online, has left fans poring over every detail, convinced they’ve spotted a major clue.

Speculation Swirls Over Stan’s Potential Character

Stan’s track record in complex roles has not gone unnoticed. His recent turn in The Apprentice, where he navigated the murky waters of political ambition, has only strengthened the case for him stepping into the shoes of Gotham’s infamous district attorney. The duality of Harvey Dent—public servant by day, criminal mastermind by night—seems a natural fit for an actor who’s made a career out of layered performances.

Of course, Stan is no stranger to playing characters with a dark edge. His portrayals in Fresh and as the Winter Soldier have demonstrated a knack for bringing depth to antagonists. There’s also talk that Scarlett Johansson, another Marvel alum, could be joining the cast, with some fans already imagining the two as on-screen love interests.

Other Contenders: Who Else Could Stan Play?

While the Two-Face theory is gaining traction, it’s not the only possibility. The sequel is rumoured to delve into the shadowy world of the Court of Owls, a secretive criminal organisation with a penchant for masked assassins. Stan’s experience with action-heavy roles has led some to suggest he could take on the part of William Cobb, also known as Talon, the group’s most notorious enforcer.

Alternatively, Lincoln March—a business magnate with mayoral ambitions and a hidden connection to the Court—has been floated as another option. Stan’s performance in The Apprentice, where he played a character with political aspirations, has only fuelled this line of thinking. There’s even been idle chatter about him tackling other classic villains, such as Mr. Freeze or Hush, though these seem less likely given recent interviews.

During a chat on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stan mused about his interest in Gotham’s rogues’ gallery, admitting,

I don’t know if Batman’s for me, but never say never. I don’t know. There’s so many characters — I told you, I always had a soft spot for that Riddler, but that one’s been done.

With Paul Dano firmly established as the Riddler in this universe, that particular door appears closed.

Star-Studded Cast Rumours and Returning Faces

Stan isn’t the only high-profile name linked to the sequel. Reports have suggested that Scarlett Johansson is also in discussions for a significant part, while Tobias Menzies is being considered for the role of Amadeus Arkham. There’s even been a whisper about Brad Pitt, though the likelihood of him taking on a supporting role seems slim at best.

Some familiar faces are set to return. Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis will reprise their roles as Commissioner Gordon and Alfred, respectively. Barry Keoghan is expected to have a more prominent presence as the Joker, and Paul Dano may once again don the mask of the Riddler. Colin Farrell, fresh from his stint in The Penguin series, will be back as Oz Cobb. However, it appears Zoë Kravitz’s Selina Kyle won’t be making an appearance this time round, and Cristin Milioti’s involvement as Sofia Falcone remains uncertain.

The anticipation continues to build as the sequel’s release date draws nearer. The Batman: Part II is slated for a 1 October 2027 premiere, and with so many moving pieces, fans are left to speculate just how the cast will shape up. Stan’s possible transformation into Two-Face has certainly set tongues wagging, but until the studio makes it official, the guessing game goes on.
