Cameras are about to roll on The Batman sequel, and Sebastian Stan is suiting up as iconic DC villain Two-Face.

So, we might actually be getting 'The Batman — Part II', and I know, after all the back and forth and shifting production dates, that alone is something to get cynical about. But according to several pretty clear signs, it's about to become real—filming should kick off this June. That’s director Matt Reeves, who’s already dropped a little cold-weather Batmobile tease in a camera test. Always good to see the car before we see a single frame of the movie.

Sebastian Stan Gets Two-Faced (Sort Of)

Here’s where things got a bit more interesting: Sebastian Stan, of Winter Soldier fame, was spotted getting physically prepped for the movie—specifically, for his role as Harvey Dent. In a video posted by his trainer, Jason Walch, on the Rise Movement’s Instagram, Stan can be seen working through his superhero routine, along with some casual protein shake prep using their Rise311 products. The caption was a little over-the-top (‘Can’t explain just how excited we are to be training Sebastian for Batman. This is going to be epic! Sebastian is one of the kindest clients we’ve ever had the opportunity to work with’), but here’s the real point: Stan is in the gym, and apparently Harvey Dent’s going to be a much more physical character than previous movie versions. That’s a new angle—Dent’s usually the guy in the courtroom, not the gym.

If you're a comics nerd, you've probably already read speculation that this sequel will dive into Batman’s run-in with the secret society Court of Owls, and there are rumors Harvey Dent and his family will actually have some shady ties to the whole thing. At this point, it’s all rumor mill, but the fact that they’re getting Stan in superhero shape might back that up.

Who’s Who in Gotham This Time

As for the rest of the cast, here’s how it’s shaping up (and yes, there’s some Marvel lockout effects happening):

  • Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent/Two-Face (officially announced January 2026, after Marvel’s endless Bucky Barnes arc)
  • Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent (yep, Black Widow herself gets a Gotham pass, playing Harvey’s wife)
  • Charles Dance, aka Tywin Lannister, as Harvey’s abusive father (which probably hints we’re getting a very personal Two-Face storyline)
  • Robert Pattinson returns as the main (bat)man himself
  • Andy Serkis is back as Alfred
  • Colin Farrell as Penguin—one of the best things about the last movie, honestly
  • Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon—always solid

Stan’s Busy Calendar

This is a packed stretch for Stan. Besides his Gotham duel, he’s about to show up in 'Fjord', a drama from Cristian Mungiu making its Cannes main competition debut in May 2026. That’s right before his next round as Bucky Barnes in 'Avengers: Doomsday', which mashes together the Thunderbolts and New Avengers crews. The guy doesn’t get much downtime, apparently.

Release Date (Grab Your Calendar, Again)

As of now (if WB doesn’t move it again), 'The Batman — Part II' will finally show up in theaters on October 1, 2027. That’s a while off, but at least this time, cameras actually look set to roll.
