Rumour squashed: Obsession star didn’t pass on Heat 2 for the MCU, says producer
A Heat 2 producer has slapped down rumours that the new X-Men star, only just unveiled by Marvel Studios, turned down Michael Mann’s sequel.
There's been a bit of a commotion in rumourland lately over Inde Navarrette and her supposed involvement (or lack of it) in Heat 2, particularly since her casting in Marvel's next big X-Men reboot. You may have spotted stories flying around that she snubbed the Heat sequel in favour of donning spandex for the MCU. Turns out, that's pure myth according to the people making the actual film.
Navarrette was never offered a role in Heat 2, says executive producer Shane Salerno: "It's simply untrue."
Speaking to The Wrap, Heat 2 executive producer Shane Salerno put the brakes on those reports, saying Navarrette did meet with director Michael Mann once, but the notion that she got — and rejected — a part in Heat 2 is wide of the mark. She was discussed, sure, but not actually offered anything. Rumours like this aren't surprising once people start connecting the dots between shiny Marvel gigs and prestige director projects, but here it's just hot air.
Mutants Assemble: X-Men Gets Busy
Navarrette may not be trading gunfights in L.A. for high school drama in Heat 2, but she is locked in to play Rogue for Marvel Studios' as-yet-untitled X-Men film, which is kind of a big deal if you follow mutant affairs. The film's directed by Jake Schreier and was announced in a flurry of excitement at D23, where they rolled out a stacked cast including Sadie Sink, Samara Weaving, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Maya Boyd, and Adam Driver. This reboot is meant to set the MCU's next era of X-gene action in motion, with new faces taking iconic roles.

Meanwhile, Back at Heat 2…
The Heat 2 casting saga rolls on, but Navarrette's not part of it. According to Deadline, the film's eyeing Odessa Young to take on the Charlene Shiherlis role (played by Ashley Judd in the original), and María Cid is apparently top of Michael Mann's list to play Gabi. These two could be joining an already big-name cast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Stephen Graham, and Jason Clarke.
In case anyone's lost track, Heat 2 isn't just a follow-up film — it's based on Michael Mann's 2022 New York Times bestseller (which he co-wrote), serving as both prequel and sequel to his 1995 original. That means we'll see younger versions of familiar characters alongside fresh drama after the bank heist dust settles, so it's a proper sprawl. Alongside Mann, heavyhitters like Jerry Bruckheimer and Scott Stuber are producing.
