Reacher Isn't Slowing Down: Prime Video Reportedly Readies Season 5
Fresh buzz says Prime Video’s Reacher, led by Alan Ritchson, is closing in on a Season 5 renewal.
So, Alan Ritchson – yeah, the guy who could probably bench-press a pickup truck – has basically become one of the kings of streaming thanks to his lead role in Prime Video’s 'Reacher'. If you haven’t been paying attention: since 2022, the show’s been cranking out seasons at a steady pace, raking in viewers and generally doing things the old Tom Cruise movies only dreamed of (no offense, Tom, but Ritchson really nails ‘giant ex-military trouble-magnet wandering the US’).
Anyway, here’s what’s going on in Reacher-land right now:
Show’s Unstoppable Momentum
'Reacher' has already been officially renewed for Season 4 – and we’re talking about four months before Season 3 even dropped. If you know anything about how slow streamers usually are with renewals, you know that’s not normal. Prime Video is betting heavy on this one being their next long-term franchise.
Not satisfied with just that, they’ve also announced a spin-off focused on Maria Sten’s Neagley character. So, the Reacher universe is expanding whether you like it or not.
Season 4: What’s Coming Up
- Source Material: Season 4 adapts Lee Child’s 13th novel, Gone Tomorrow. (So, yes, they’re still jumping around the book order like maniacs, but it seems to work.)
- Location: This time, Reacher’s back in New York City, getting tangled up in a plot involving a suicide bomber and – you guessed it – a whole new conspiracy.
- Release Date: Don’t hold your breath for an imminent drop – right now, all signs point to a 2026 release.
Fresh Rumors: Season 5?
Here’s where things get interesting. Industry scooper Jeff Sneider has reported that Season 5 is already in development at Prime Video. This isn’t officially confirmed by Amazon (yet), but considering their past behavior, it honestly wouldn’t be shocking. Historically:
"Season 2 was greenlit just days after the show originally premiered, and they’d already started planning Season 3 before Season 2 even aired."
So, unless the wheels fall off, it’s pretty likely Reacher will stick around for another round (or two). Official word probably won’t drop on Season 5 until Season 4 is at least on the calendar, though.
Where Do They Go From Here?
With Lee Child having churned out 29 (yes, 29) Reacher novels since '97, there is absolutely no shortage of material. For the record, here’s the pattern so far:
- Season 1: Killing Floor (Book #1)
- Season 2: Bad Luck and Trouble (Book #11)
- Season 3: Persuader (Book #7)
They’re not exactly going in order – and with that Neagley spin-off in production too, your guess is as good as mine which book gets the next adaptation. There are more than enough to keep the show (and Alan Ritchson’s biceps) busy for the next decade.
The Bottom Line
If you’re a Reacher fan, you’re basically living the dream: the main show, a spin-off, and now strong hints that a fifth season is already on the way. Alan Ritchson, for his part, is still all in — and at this point, there’s no reason to believe Prime Video’s biggest bruiser is slowing down any time soon.
Don’t forget: all three seasons of 'Reacher' are already streaming if you want to get a head start (or rewatch Reacher beat up a town’s-worth of criminals with his bare hands while delivering deadpan zingers).
