Extraction 3, starring Chris Hemsworth, has bagged 007’s Pierce Brosnan — and he’s not the only new recruit signing on.

Netflix is clearly not finished squeezing every last ounce out of its Extraction action franchise. After the first two films cleaned up on the streaming charts, we’re now officially heading for a third round — and this time, Chris Hemsworth isn’t the only big name on the poster.

Extraction 3 is bringing Pierce Brosnan onboard, marking the biggest new addition to the series' cast so far.

Hemsworth Gets Backup — and Then Some

So, Extraction 3. The main man, Chris Hemsworth — who, in case you’ve somehow missed a decade of Marvel, is famous for wielding a very large hammer as Thor — is still in the lead, obviously. But Netflix has decided to hike up the star power, with none other than Pierce Brosnan jumping in. Yes, that's right: James Bond himself (several times over), the ex-007 who managed to make invisible cars look almost plausible.

It’s not just Hemsworth and Brosnan, though. The rest of the shiny new line-up includes:

  • Siena Agudong (whose credits include 'Sidelined')
  • Chi Lewis-Perry ('28 Years Later')
  • Don Lee (the absolute unit from 'Train to Busan')
  • Joe Taslim ('The Furious')

Not a bad ensemble, if you ask me. If Netflix is aiming for a more international, crowd-pleasing cast, this is the way to do it.

Brosnan’s Move: More Than Just Bond

Brosnan’s got more strings to his bow than just swirling a martini and flirting with gadgets, but let’s not pretend the Bond legacy isn’t what caught everyone’s attention. His main 007 forays include GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Die Another Day, which made him a household name all over again.

What’s interesting, though, is he’s not been sitting around since then. He did a turn as a crime boss (Conrad Harrigan) in Paramount’s MobLand, which got plenty of praise. Netflix has actually got Brosnan on its payroll elsewhere too — he turns up in The Thursday Murder Club, which is about a bunch of elderly sleuths mucking about and solving crimes when they probably should be at bingo. If you want range, just remember he’s also shown up in things as random as Black Adam, Mamma Mia!, and Fast Charlie.

Behind the Scenes and the Wait

The person calling the shots this time is Sam Hargrave, returning to the director’s chair, with a script that comes from David Weil (he’s worked off a story by Anthony and Joe Russo — the ‘Avengers’ lads — together with Ande Parks). On the producing side, it’s Steven V. Scavelli and Shelby Malone as executive producers, just in case you’re collecting names for your own streaming project at home.

Despite all this activity and Netflix’s usual fondness for hyping things months in advance, Extraction 3 still doesn’t have a release date slapped on it. It’s in production, but no clues yet when you’ll actually get to see Hemsworth and Brosnan racking up another oversized body count onscreen.

No release window for Extraction 3 has been announced.
