Only Murders in the Building season 6 trades New York for London — and it’s back next month
Sharpen your alibis: Only Murders in the Building returns for season 6 very soon, as Charles, Oliver and Mabel take their podcast investigations to London.
The word's out: Only Murders in the Building is heading back to screens very soon, and things are finally moving on from the Arconia. If you thought the trio's podcast antics were getting a bit, let's say, geographically repetitive, brace yourself – they're swapping New York for London in Season 6.
Only Murders in the Building returns to Hulu on 8 December 2026 with episodes landing weekly on Tuesdays.
Mystery Across the Pond
This time round, Charles, Oliver and Mabel are drawn into a brand new investigation, but not on their home turf. The plot kicks off after the events of the Season 5 finale, where we finally got the reveal that the Arconia’s doorman, Lester, was bumped off by none other than Mayor Beau Tillman. Just as you think the dust’s settled, Cinda Canning – yes, the very same Cinda (played by Tina Fey) whose podcast shenanigans started half this mess – meets her own untimely end on the pavement outside the Arconia.
Her murder is what drags our amateur sleuths across the Atlantic, giving the show’s writers a nice excuse to play in a fresh setting, and probably making tourism boards both sides of the pond rather happy. It's Cinda who, post-mortem, keeps the gang’s podcasting flame alive, as their investigative work lands them slap bang in the middle of another crime, now on British soil.
Who's Back (and Who’s New)
The familiar faces are all accounted for: Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez reprise their roles as the hapless but loveable crime-solving trio, and Tina Fey returns as Cinda. Expect to see Da'Vine Joy Randolph pop up again as well. But frankly, it’s the newcomers who are set to raise a few eyebrows. Meryl Streep and Olivia Colman have joined the line-up (should we just hand them a Bafta now?), with David Tennant, Nicola Coughlan and Martin Freeman also along for the ride. That's a cast most murder mysteries would kill for.
- Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez – Charles, Oliver, Mabel (back for round six)
- Tina Fey – Cinda Canning (yep, again, even after last season's cliffhanger)
- Olivia Colman, Meryl Streep, David Tennant, Nicola Coughlan, Martin Freeman – new names joining the chaos
- Da'Vine Joy Randolph – returning in her scene-stealing role
Curious how much mileage is left in the concept? Selena Gomez doesn't seem to be running out of steam. In an earlier chat with USA Today, she made it clear she wants to keep growing into the role:
Gomez told USA Today: "I really hope that I can just keep evolving Mabel as I get older because I want to do this for a long time."
How's It Actually Doing?
Since the show first hit Hulu back in 2021, it’s turned into one of the streamer’s most consistently reliable hits. Audience numbers have held up and it’s genuinely well-liked, pulling in an average 95 percent critics’ score and 89 percent audience rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. So if you’re wondering why Hulu keeps splashing the cash for these star-studded whodunits, there’s your answer.
