Prime Video has renewed a Reacher spin-off starring Maria Sten for a second season, off the back of its massive viewership success.

Prime Video is throwing its considerable weight behind another Reacher offshoot, and this time it's Neagley taking centre stage. If you haven't caught up yet, the first season of Neagley only just dropped all eight episodes, and already Amazon has renewed it for a second run. That, by the way, is a pretty quick turnaround—even by streaming service standards where patience isn't exactly prized.

Neagley smashed its launch, grabbing 40 million viewers within just under two weeks.

For a bit of context, Amazon claims it's now the fourth most-watched original series debut in Prime Video's short but intense history of...well, throwing money at telly that people actually want to watch. On top of that, 52% of those viewers tuned in from outside the US, so it isn't just Americans buying in—Neagley has gone global faster than you can say "special investigations unit."

Who (and What) Is Neagley?

Let's rewind for the uninitiated. The character of Frances Neagley first appeared in Lee Child's 2002 novel Without Fail, and if you've read the books, you know she's basically Reacher's equal—sharp as a tack, ex-military, and with a signature habit of not letting anyone touch her. On the show, Maria Sten steps into Neagley's boots with an icy resolve and just a pinch of dry wit. Amazon head honchos clearly approve—Peter Friedlander, who oversees global TV for Amazon MGM Studios, had this to say after the renewal was announced:

“Maria Sten delivers a commanding, layered performance that drives every episode, and Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton have built a world that is both thrilling and compelling. We are excited to continue this story and explore what’s next for Neagley…”

They're definitely keen to shout about their new action star, and with 40 million people watching, why wouldn't they?

Another Big Franchise Move

Neagley isn't just Maria Sten's solo show, by the way. She's joined by a suitably action-packed cast: Greyston Holt, Adeline Rudolph, Jasper Jones, Matthew Del Negro, and Damon Herriman, with Alan Ritchson dropping in as Jack Reacher himself. The chemistry with Sten and Ritchson, for those keeping tally at home, does carry over, with Neagley now running point as the headstrong private investigator you'd ring if things seriously went sideways.

The renewal comes hot on the heels of Amazon giving Reacher itself a sixth season, even though the fifth hasn't finished filming yet. Clearly, if there's a body count and a sarcastic protagonist involved, Amazon's throwing another suitcase full of cash at it.

If you need a plot refresher: Neagley goes all in for justice when a friend from her past turns up dead in a suspicious accident. Where Reacher wanders the country with nothing but a toothbrush and an attitude, Neagley's proving every bit as compelling—and, frankly, a lot more organised.
