Millie Bobby Brown is keeping Stranger Things’ biggest Eleven mystery to herself
Stranger Things fans are still guessing how Eleven’s story ends, but Millie Bobby Brown isn’t spilling. She already knows her character’s fate — and for now, it’s locked away in the Upside Down.
Stranger Things fans have spent years debating the fate of Eleven, but it turns out Millie Bobby Brown’s been sitting on the answer the whole time—and she’s not giving anything away. Honestly, you can’t blame her. Netflix’s tagline might as well be 'Drama and Secrets'.
Millie Bobby Brown: Keeper of Secrets
So, what’s the deal? During her sit-down on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, Brown made it crystal clear: only she and the Duffer Brothers actually know what becomes of Eleven at the end of it all. Not the rest of the cast, not the internet rumour mill, just three people—and apparently, they’ve all sworn to keep schtum.
To quote Brown herself, after the show wrapped up:
"They were like, 'Do not tell anyone. Because we made it a secret kind of pledge.' No one else knows. It’s just us three. And what we do with that information, it’ll be up to them."
Very cloak-and-dagger for a show about psychic teens and monsters, but fair play.
The Fan Theories Keep Rolling
If you thought the fan theories were winding down, think again. When podcast host Josh Horowitz opened up the floor and asked the audience what they reckoned happened to Eleven, pretty much everyone was banking on her surviving—which Brown seemed quite pleased about: 'We have a hopeful audience. I love that!'
She wouldn’t be drawn any further, though. When pressed about whether Eleven lived or died, Brown dodged it neatly:
"All people say now is, 'Do you believe?' And of course I believe. I have to believe, honestly, otherwise January will come around again."
No state secrets were leaked that day, but she did admit the fan energy is “hopeful”, so make of that what you will.
Life After Hawkins
Brown also talked, a bit more honestly, about coming down from the whole Stranger Things experience. Turns out, wrapping up the series was a lot harder to shake off than she’d anticipated. According to her, she went into 'a little bit of a slight, slight depression. It was very hard for me.' Can’t say I’m surprised, considering how much of her life’s been tied up with that show.
- Only three people know Eleven’s fate: Millie Bobby Brown and the Duffer Brothers.
- Fans still have no hard answers—just a lot of hopeful speculation and the odd tease.
- Brown reckons the secret will stay put, based on their 'pledge.'
- The end of Stranger Things hit her harder than expected, putting her into a bit of a post-series funk.
