Marvel Cancels Previously Renewed Wonder Man in Surprise U-turn
Industry trades say Marvel has nixed a second season for one of its best-performing Disney+ shows, in what looks like a wider rethink of its streaming priorities.
If you blinked, you might've missed the brief life and death of Wonder Man Season 2. Marvel Television have called time on the show, pulling the plug on the second run before it ever got off the ground. Not the sort of thing Marvel usually shouts about — but here we are.
Wonder Man was renewed in March 2026 and then scrapped before any writing even started.
From Renewal to Reversal
This one's a bit of a U-turn. Back in March 2026, Marvel actually renewed Wonder Man for a second season, which was a surprise in itself because the show kicked off life as part of the Marvel Spotlight range. Those are normally one-and-done jobs, not the sort of thing that gets an ongoing run. That early renewal raised a few eyebrows if you were keeping track.
No Writing, No Room, No Season
But just as quickly as that green light flashed, it switched off again. According to Variety, Marvel never even bothered opening a writers' room for the supposed second season, which tells you all you need to know about how serious they were about actually making it. The writers who might've worked on it have already been told to crack on and find other gigs. So, if you were expecting any continuation or storylines from Season 1 to carry on — forget about it.
