Marshals finally settles its nastiest cliffhanger: after that Season 1 ambush left two favorites in limbo, stars Logan Marshall-Green and Arielle Kebbel confirm they survived—and they’re saddling up for Season 2.

Right, if you were left shouting at the telly after Marshals ended its first season – don’t worry, you’re not the only one. That season finale threw Cal and Belle straight into a hail of gunfire, and then the credits dropped. Classic. Naturally, fans have been in a state ever since, wondering if their favourites made it out alive, or if the writers went full Yellowstone with the body count.

So, Who Actually Survived?

Wonder no more: Logan Marshall-Green (who plays Cal) and Arielle Kebbel (Belle) have finally broken their silence, and both are set for the second season. So, yes, they lived – but it wasn’t quite a clean getaway.

Marshall-Green confirmed he’s officially alive in Season 2. His exact words about Cal:

"I can confirm he is alive, but not necessarily unscathed."

Sounds like Cal’s coming back banged up, which tracks, considering how much he spent last season clutching his neck in pain. Turns out, it’s not just old injuries or melodrama – there’s a proper reason. That recurring pain is due to a rare cancer, supposedly linked to military burn pits. Marshall-Green hints where they take that plotline next isn’t set in stone yet, but it’s probably not good news for Cal’s neck. Or his mood.

Arielle Kebbel is also back and ready for more. She confirmed filming on Season 2 kicks off with the exact moment where things left off in the finale. Her take on what’s coming:

"I think people may be surprised to see just how bad it gets."

Darker, then. Great.

That Rancher Reveal and Plot Threads Left Dangling

The series didn’t just leave character fates up in the air – that last episode dropped a pretty big twist. Rancher Tom Weaver was outed as the main schemer behind the attacks on Rainwater (he’s the Broken Rock chairman, if you’ve lost track). Big news that, not that Kayce Dutton has a clue, heading into Season 2. Meanwhile, his son Tate left with Tom Weaver, so both are walking into danger without knowing it.

What’s Different This Time?

  • Logan Marshall-Green says Cal survived, but there’s lasting damage.
  • Cal’s ongoing neck pain is now revealed as serious: a rare cancer linked to burn pits.
  • Season 2 opens at the very moment Season 1 ended, guns and all.
  • Arielle Kebbel (Belle) also returns, hinting things get much darker.
  • Tom Weaver is the big villain revealed, while Kayce and Tate are at risk and blissfully unaware.
  • The cast did a load of SEAL and weapons training before the next series, so expect things to get properly grimy and tactical.

The Buzz Behind the Scenes

Worth noting, both Kebbel and Marshall-Green said they were impressed with how quickly the next season’s production kicked in. Kebbel admitted that when she read the script for the Season 2 premiere, she ‘gasped’. Always reassuring.

Marshall-Green also teased that audiences might be thrown by the motives and fallout when the show resumes:

"The agenda behind them in regards to all of them is not going to be what you think."

Which is a fancy way of saying: expect double-crosses, misery, and at least a few more big surprises when the slow-motion dust settles.
