Brace yourselves: when the new season lands, the cast line-up won’t look the same.

Let’s talk Paramount. Yes, the company whose name you see plastered all over Yellowstone and a load of Taylor Sheridan’s ever-growing TV empire. If you’re confused about what’s going on over there with all the merger noise and that drawn-out Warner Bros. Discovery courtship, don’t worry – you’re not alone. But even as the media vultures circle, Paramount isn’t exactly putting their originals on ice. In fact, Sheridan’s next oil-soaked epic is charging into its third season.

Landman, if you’re not up to speed, is the series Sheridan pulled from the hit podcast ‘Boomtown’ – all about the wild, often bonkers world of West Texas oil prospecting. Think ripped-from-the-headlines geopolitics meets old-school Dallas, but grubbier. The thing’s straight-up about money, power, and climate spiralling out of control. And, as of now, the cameras are rolling again for season 3.

Filming for the third season is underway in Fort Worth, Texas.

Cast promotions and star power

There’s one fairly big shift for series three – four of the supporting faces are stepping up as freshly-minted regulars. Colm Feore (Nate), Mustafa Speaks (Boss), Bobbi Salvor Menuez (Paigyn), and Francesca Xuereb (Cheyenne) will all be back, but you’ll be seeing a lot more of them this time round. Not a bad gig, considering they’re hanging about with Billy Bob Thornton, who’s still top of the call sheet as the show’s walking embodiment of Texan scruff-meets-billionaire ambition.

  • Billy Bob Thornton
  • Demi Moore
  • Andy Garcia
  • Ali Larter
  • Sam Elliott
  • Jacob Lofland
  • Michelle Randolph
  • Pauline Chavez
  • Kayla Wallace
  • Marke Collie
  • James Jordan

That’s not your average cable cast, is it? Bit of an embarrassment of riches – and honestly, most drama pilots would club a baby seal for that roster.

Series basics (and the Sheridan effect)

So what’s Landman about, really? If you’ve missed the chatter, it’s all set in those infamous West Texas oil towns where roughnecks and energy moguls rub shoulders, wage war over drilling rights, and generally behave badly. Sheridan and his co-creators have taken the basic premise of ‘Boomtown’ – which was an 11-part podcast, worth a listen if you’re into mad American stories – and gone full drama with it. The stakes? Ridiculous fortunes. World markets. Climate on a knife edge. If it sounds like everything Taylor Sheridan loves cranked to 11, you’re not wrong.

Season three’s still in the early days of filming, and with the merger clouds swirling overhead, you get the sense this one’s going to be closely watched – not just for who gets rich or covered in oil on screen, but for what it says about Paramount’s future in prestige TV land.
