Personal Shopper, but racier: Kristen Stewart and Riley Keough's new supernatural film
Kristen Stewart and Riley Keough are set to join acclaimed director Olivier Assayas on a haunting new supernatural film — with two more familiar faces in the mix.
Kristen Stewart is teaming up yet again with Olivier Assayas for a new supernatural film, and it looks like he’s roped in quite the cast. The upcoming project, titled Spiritual World, is shaping up to be another eerie outing—think Personal Shopper, but apparently a bit racier this time.
Filming on Spiritual World is meant to kick off in France and Germany in February 2027 and run through April.
The Cast and Premise
Assayas hasn’t just called up his old favourite Stewart, who’ll be playing Ada—a woman who isn’t just haunted, she’s actually clairvoyant, plagued with cryptic premonitions. Joining her is Riley Keough (probably best known for Daisy Jones & the Six), Vicky Krieps (from Phantom Thread), and Wagner Moura (you’ll remember him from Narcos). A couple more names worth clocking: Barbara Sukowa and Niels Schneider round out the international flavour.
Stewart x Assayas: Round Three
This will be Stewart’s third crack at working with Olivier Assayas. Their first team-up was Clouds of Sils Maria back in 2014, which did rather well for Stewart—bagged her the César for Best Supporting Actress (which, if you didn’t know, is a pretty big deal in France). They followed that with Personal Shopper in 2016, where Stewart basically spent the entire film being stalked by the supernatural. That film won Best Director for Assayas at the Cannes Film Festival, so not shabby at all.
A few more details if you’re keeping score: Olivier Delbosc is producing (he’s worked with Assayas before) via Curiosa Films in Paris, with ARTE France also putting up cash. The director’s not been idle—his recent work includes The Wizard of the Kremlin (with Jude Law and Paul Dano), and he did the TV series Irma Vep for HBO, starring Alicia Vikander.
As for Stewart, she’s just ticked off her own feature directorial debut (The Chronology of Water). Plus, she popped up in Quentin Dupieux’s Full Phil, which screened at Cannes in 2026.
