Fans want Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin to take on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man once Daredevil: Born Again ends
Vincent D’Onofrio’s goodbye has lit a fire under Kingpin fans, who, after Daredevil: Born Again’s cancellation, rally for his next MCU move — and it’s a specific one.
If you thought Daredevil: Born Again would have an easy run to the finish, think again. This week, the show's looming end has sent the internet – or, at least, Marvel's corner of it – into a mild frenzy. And it all started with Vincent D'Onofrio saying his goodbyes. Naturally, nobody's actually ready for Kingpin to step off the board just yet.
The third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again lands in 2027.

Word officially broke on 21 September: Daredevil: Born Again is drawing to a close with its third series, per The Hollywood Reporter. The backstage picture's just as messy – showrunner Dario Scardapane apparently left the project during post-production when his contract ran out. That left fans less than reassured about what’s coming down the pipeline.
D'Onofrio hints at more Fisk
Vincent D'Onofrio jumped onto X (Twitter, if you’re still calling it that) to get ahead of the speculation. He gave a classic heartfelt note to the fans, making it plain how much the character means to him and teasing a final series loaded with what he called "very cool stuff". But he didn’t stop there.
In D’Onofrio’s own words, posted directly to fans:
We so enjoyed bringing Daredevil Born Again to you all. You stuck with us and I like to think we stuck with you. We have the final Season, season 3 heading your way next year with some very cool stuff. Much love to all who have been supportive. I love that character Fisk. Always will. Off to another neck off the woods.
It was that deliberately cryptic “off to another neck off the woods” bit that really whipped up the speculation, because fans, being who they are, immediately began hunting for clues. What most clung to, though, was D’Onofrio’s repeated affection for his role as Wilson Fisk and the sense that, even though Daredevil’s bowing out, Kingpin might not be done with the MCU just yet.
The fan campaigns begin
- Plea number one: don’t kill Fisk off, especially with the third series rumoured to feature high body counts.
- Push number two: bring Kingpin into Spider-Man 5. Loads of replies demanded to see Fisk clash with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on the big screen, or at least pop up elsewhere – maybe a Punisher slot, maybe a new Daredevil film, maybe all three. Some fans flat out said they've been waiting years for exactly that crossover.
- The wild card: scooper Daniel Richtman threw in his two pence, reminding everyone how the MCU never really writes anyone out for good. Characters have a habit of walking back in when you least expect it (unless Marvel wants the door slammed shut, anyway).
The suggestion running through pretty much every comment thread: as long as D’Onofrio wants to play him, Kingpin still has mileage. The final Daredevil: Born Again series is due in 2027 and, given all the hints and desperation online, don’t bet on that being the last you see of Fisk – whether it’s swinging into New York’s skyline or dragging a few more unfortunate souls into his web.
