Vincent D'Onofrio has posted his goodbye to Kingpin. The odder part is that Born Again's showrunner has already left.

Well, looks like Daredevil: Born Again is hanging up its horns after the next run—season three will be the end of the road for Matt Murdock and company, at least for the foreseeable. The big man himself, Vincent D'Onofrio, who's been chewing up the scenery as Kingpin since the Netflix days, has something to say about it.

D'Onofrio Says Farewell (Sort Of)

The Kingpin actor has been at this game for over a decade now, first turning up in the 2015 Netflix series Daredevil, and then popping into Hawkeye, Echo, and of course Born Again on Disney+. Whether you love him as Marvel's biggest headache or not, he’s certainly earned the title of longest-serving villain in tights. Now with season three announced as the last, he’s posted a message for the fans—yes, on X, because apparently that's still a thing. Here’s how D'Onofrio put it directly to the loyal lot:

We so enjoyed bringing Daredevil: Born Again to you all. You stuck with us and I like to think we stuck with you. We have the final Season, season 3 heading your way next year with some very cool stuff. Much love to all who have been supportive. I love that character Fisk. Always will. Off to another neck of the woods. Meanwhile… Season 3 is coming!

So, it's a farewell, but not the kind where everyone gets killed off and the set burns down. If Marvel find a way to drag Kingpin or Daredevil out for a cameo somewhere else in the MCU, no one would be shocked. Whether that actually happens probably depends on which executive is still standing next year.

Showrunner Walkabout and Post-Production Drama

For a bit of behind the curtain shenanigans: filming for the third (and now final) season actually wrapped up several months ago—so, nothing in danger there, unless someone at Disney+ panics and bins it. The awkward bit is that Dario Scardapane, who took over showrunning duties after the last creative overhaul, has now quietly slipped away from the project. Seems his contract ran out and they simply decided not to renew. That's a bit strange, given the show is still deep in post-production. No word so far on who'll carry it over the finish line—they might just put whoever's left by the edit bay in charge at this rate.

The final season of 'Daredevil: Born Again' will land on Disney+ in March 2027.

Mark your calendars: that last batch of episodes is meant to drop in March 2027. So, quite a wait if you’re hoping for closure—or just another hallway fight scene.

Critical Shoutout: Why People Care

If you’re wondering why there’s so much fuss: the last season of Born Again was apparently a bit of a belter. Our own Alex Maidy went all-in, calling season two one of the best things the Marvel Cinematic Universe has put to telly. He reckons it stacks right up there with the original Netflix series’ best bits and even gave it a nod alongside The Penguin, which is seriously good company if you ask me. Maidy singled out the maturity, social commentary, and characters that dance far above your usual caped nonsense.

With all this in mind, it’s not hard to see why fans might actually miss this one. But at least there’s still a final act yet to play out—and yes, D'Onofrio’s still in it, smashing faces and reciting Shakespeare, as ever.
