Juno Temple weighs in on Roy and Keeley’s season 4 future in Ted Lasso

Right then, Ted Lasso is back for Season 4 on Apple TV+, and if you thought we'd finally moved on from Roy and Keeley's does-it-or-doesn't-it spark, you clearly haven't been paying attention. That whole 'will they, won't they' business is front and centre yet again — not that I'm complaining, frankly, as it's the romantic hedging that makes half the show tick.

The State of Roy and Keeley

Juno Temple, who still plays Keeley with that jittery, irresistible fizz, has been chatting about where things stand between her and Brett Goldstein's ever-grumbly Roy Kent in the new run. She's under no illusions about the chemistry — her words are pretty blunt. In an interview with ScreenRant, Temple reckons Keeley could 'probably have chemistry with a teapot,' but there's something in the way Roy stops her in her tracks, and that tension is exactly the point.

Here's how Juno Temple put it: 'I mean, will they, won't they? I mean, there's definitely chemistry there, isn't there? And that's something that I love. I feel like Keeley could probably have chemistry with a teapot, but at the same time, there's something with Roy where it feels like it slightly stops her in her tracks, which I love. But will the time be now or not? I don't know. I think it's about kind of…I mean, I sure as hell know that I don't want it to be the wrong timing again.'

So you've got confirmation from Temple: these two are a long way from done, relationship-wise, and whether or not they should be together is all down to the timing — which, let's be honest, is typically awful in this show.

Supporting Cast Chimes In

You don't just have Temple talking them up either. Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca, in case you've somehow forgotten), weighed in as well, praising the pair's on-screen magic and saying she just loves seeing them share a scene. Waddingham thinks Juno and Brett were 'meant to find each other on camera,' which, to her mind, matters more than where the relationship plot goes.

This is how Waddingham put it during the same chat: 'Oh yeah, I just love these two playing any scenes together. Whatever the outcome, Juno and Brett together were meant to find each other on camera.'

Not everyone’s convinced it’ll be all sunshine for Roy and Keeley — at least, not yet. In episode two this season, even Ted (Jason Sudeikis) says Keeley only views Roy as a good mate these days. But between the writing and all the loaded glances, you can bet the door isn't closed for a proper reunion.
