Jeremy Clarkson reveals how he’s really doing after cancer diagnosis
Jeremy Clarkson, who revealed a cancer diagnosis in Clarkson’s Farm Season 5, now says it’s in remission — sharing the good news in a new interview with The Sunday Times.
Trust Jeremy Clarkson to drop massive personal news tucked away in an episode of Clarkson's Farm. If you missed it: the former Top Gear host recently revealed he'd been dealing with cancer. Now, in a fresh interview, he's given a full update on his situation — and, true to form, it comes with a fair bit of dry wit.
'I am without a doubt, officially, the world's luckiest man'
Speaking to The Sunday Times, Clarkson confirmed that his cancer is now in remission. Yes, that's right – he's been given the all-clear after a round of follow-up tests two months back showed no signs of the disease rearing its head. For those who like a bit of context: he described it as 'an aggressive type of cancer', highlighting just how fortunate he feels not to have things spiral somewhere much nastier, pancreas and all.
'It could have spread, it could have gone into the pancreas, it could have gone anywhere, and that would have been trouble.'
Not Out of the Woods Just Yet
Clarkson also pointed out that he's not about to swan off with a clean bill of health forever. There's a 40% chance of the cancer making a comeback, which, let's be honest, isn't a stat anyone wants hanging over their head. But he's handling it how you'd expect: by making light of it.
'I try to be positive. I’ve decided to be one of the 60% who doesn’t have a recurrence,' he quipped.
He’s now on regular blood tests to keep everything in check. Admire the brutal practicality, honestly.
The NHS's Unlikely Poster Boy
Clarkson’s main takeaway is proper unfiltered: just go and get tested. The man could not be clearer — 'It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not undignified. And it’s a no-brainer.' He reckons he only found out because a routine check-up flagged something wrong, and credits that quick action for being around and 'talking to you 11 months down the line'. Clarkson, turning into a reluctant health ambassador, added that if even one bloke gets themselves checked after hearing his story, the mud-slinging on Clarkson’s Farm was all worth it.
A Quick Instagram PSA
Because why not spread the gospel of early diagnosis, Clarkson also popped up on Instagram recently, saying:
'The reason why I’m fine is because the doctors caught the prostate cancer early, and they caught it early because I got tested.'
