Friends alums Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow are eyeing a fresh sitcom — and they want Courteney Cox along for the ride. The duo floated the idea during Variety's Actors on Actors, hinting a three-piece reunion could be their next act.

Here's one for anyone who still knows the lyrics to 'Smelly Cat'. Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow have been reminiscing about Friends again—this time with a twist. Turns out, they both reckon it might be a lark to team up with Courteney Cox for a brand new sitcom. No, not a Friends revival (let's not even open that can of worms), but something entirely different.

A Little Reunion on 'Actors on Actors'

Aniston and Kudrow sat down together for Variety’s 'Actors on Actors' series, in front of an actual audience this time—apparently the last time was via Zoom, pandemic-style, back in 2020. The conversation quickly turned to Friends nostalgia (obviously), but then Kudrow threw out the idea that she’s keen to do another sitcom—just as long as someone actually writes a decent one.

In Kudrow's words:

"I would love to do another one. If anyone wrote a good one. Let’s do it. You heard it here!"

Fair goes. Aniston, not missing a beat, asked what it would even be about, to which Kudrow basically said, let’s just rope in Courteney Cox and see what happens.

At this point, Aniston blurted out, 'Let’s pitch it. Let’s workshop it in front of all of these wonderful people.' Frankly, the comedy potential of those three together again is... obvious.

Kudrow's Friends Viewing Habits: Not Quite What You'd Expect

In possibly the least shocking but still slightly odd confession of the day, Aniston pointed out that Kudrow never really watched Friends—not unless it was some kind of cast get-together at someone’s house. According to Kudrow, the idea of sitting alone at home, watching herself on telly, just felt far too awkward.

"I just couldn’t sit there at home and have anybody walk by seeing me watching a show that I’m in. Because it felt embarrassing to me."

Kudrow admitted there were entire episodes she’d never even seen put together until much later, because, well, "we got busy". Aniston meanwhile is convinced it all still feels like yesterday, but Kudrow disagrees—she has now actually watched the whole thing and, to be fair, she says she 'loved it with all [her] heart'. And, in a nice moment, she singled out Aniston’s acting, telling her: 'Holy cow! You were really good, Jennifer.' (Not wrong.)

The Friends Guest Star Hall of Fame

They couldn’t resist a bit of a trip down memory lane when it comes to the show’s recurring holidays and star cameo chaos. The pair swapped fond memories of the famous Thanksgiving episodes, specifically Brad Pitt’s appearance—which they both found pretty hilarious, apparently. (There’s no word on whether the real-life awkwardness was as funny as it was on screen.)

Other names got thrown around too: Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, and a few others that may or may not have set off full-scale nerves among the regular cast. Always fun hearing huge celebrities admit they were slightly terrified just to show up on the set of a mainstream sitcom.

  • Aniston and Kudrow want to reunite with Cox for a new sitcom (not a Friends reboot, thank you very much)
  • Kudrow says she never watched Friends in real time—didn’t want people spotting her watching herself
  • Recently saw it at last, actually enjoyed it, and was especially impressed by Aniston
  • Fond memories of those ridiculous Thanksgiving episodes with A-list guest stars: Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, and more
