So, Jalen Brunson – yes, that Jalen Brunson, the man who just dragged the New York Knicks all the way to their long-awaited NBA title this summer – is about to pop up on your telly for something far weirder than basketball. NBC’s confirmed that Brunson’s got himself a guest slot on Law & Order: SVU, popping up in episode 5 of the show’s frankly staggering 28th season, which airs on 5 November 2026. And in case you’re wondering, this is the very first time he’s tried his hand at acting in anything scripted.

We don’t know yet who or what Brunson’s playing – cop, corpse, basketball star, who can say – NBC haven’t spilled those beans. What isn’t a mystery: Brunson’s status as unofficial Mayor of Manhattan just now. Bringing the Knicks their first NBA championship since 1973 has made him untouchable in that town, so of course the city’s most iconic cop drama wants a slice.

There’s another bit of behind-the-scenes trivia: he’s apparently chummy with Mariska Hargitay herself – that’s Olivia Benson to you and me – who’s never hidden her Knicks obsession. Rumour had it the two have been angling for him to join the show ever since New York’s playoff run got going this year.
SVU’s official accounts are very much in on the act, posting a photo of Jalen hanging out on set with the regular cast. So if you spot extra basketball references flying round the precinct this November, now you’ll know who’s responsible.
