General Hospital is packing 2026 with fresh faces and surprise comebacks, turning up the drama in Port Charles. From buzzworthy debuts to fan-favorite returns, here’s who’s joined the ABC staple so far.

If you reckon General Hospital had already done its fair share of shake-ups over the years, you might want to think again. 2026 has been absolute chaos – and for once, I don't just mean the storylines. There's been a whole flood of fresh faces, surprise returns, and the sort of casting choices that get soap fans riled up (in the best and worst ways).

Here's the lowdown on who's wandered into Port Charles this year, either for the first time ever or returning after a lengthy absence. Some real soap royalty back on the payroll, some new blood, and at least one character whose very name is a little tribute for long-time fans.

The Patient Returns, New Faces, & A Few Odd Moves

  • Carolyn Hennesy – Back in action as Diane Miller in January, after a long break caused by multiple leg surgeries. She genuinely thanked the cast, crew, and especially viewers for helping her get through all the medical drama. In her words: 'The love from the fans truly got me through this and kept my mind right. Their support meant and means everything to me.'
  • Andrew Hawkes – Kicked things off in January, cast as Ross Cullum, new head honcho at the WSB and up to no good alongside his partner Sidwell. Their big move: kidnapping Anna Devane and dosing her with hallucinogens. She ended up in hospital. Not exactly making mates, is he?
  • Nathan Dean – Made his return as Ethan Lovett in April. Dean played Ethan on-and-off since 2009, dropping by again in 2013, 2015, and 2020, so by now he probably has a loyalty card for the set.
  • Jonathan Bennett – Slotted in as detective Joe Fitzpatrick. First popped up on 18 May, already managing to stir speculation among the conspiracy-theorist wing of the GH fandom.
  • Dean Geyer – Mark this one in your diary: set to turn up in July as Tristan Roberts. If the name sounds familiar, that's because it's a nod to dearly missed cast member Tristan Rogers (who played fan favourite Robert Scorpio).
  • Kayden Brenna Tokarski – New face for Scout Cain, coming in July. Always bold choosing a fresh actor for a legacy character, so we'll see how that shakes out.
  • Kelly Kruger – Being recast as Serena Baldwin, also arriving in July. Seems they've decided now's the time for a bit of Baldwin family drama.
  • Troy Lennon Appel – Set to debut next month as Hudson, a businessman with a lot of mystery swirling around him. Given this is GH, odds are high he has at least one secret child and a fugitive identity.
  • Jequan Jackson – Back this summer as Quinn, still hanging about as Kai's mate. He's one of the few returning characters who hasn't switched allegiance fifteen times.
  • Finola Hughes – The big one for a lot of viewers. Hughes returned this month as Anna Devane – a proper fan-favourite. Her last few years on the show have involved everything from spy plots to attempted murder, so all bets are off about what they have lined up for her next.

If anything, the real story here is just how active the casting department has been – mix of heartfelt comebacks and a few names who've never stepped foot on the GH soundstage before 2026. The producers are certainly keeping us on our toes this year.
