How long are they in the pods on Love Is Blind UK? The filming schedule is no joke
Watching engagements happen within four episodes, you'd be forgiven for assuming the pods phase of Love Is Blind UK lasts a month or more. It doesn't — but the days involved are far more gruelling than the golden wine glasses suggest.
Here's how the schedule actually works.
So how long are they in the pods?
Around 10 days. That's the entire pods phase — from around 30 singles walking in on day one to engaged couples meeting face to face. The UK version, hosted by Emma and Matt Willis since its launch on 7 August 2024, follows the same production playbook as the US original, and creator Chris Coelen has confirmed the cast gets thinned out along the way: at a certain point producers do "a whittling down of people" so the strongest connections get more pod time. That's why some cast members barely appear on screen.
What a day in the pods looks like
- Breakfast together — the daters start the day as a group before splitting off to their respective lounges.
- Speed dates first — on day one, dates run to roughly 15 minutes each as everyone works through the full line-up.
- Then no limits — as the days pass, time restrictions fall away and daters choose who they talk to and for how long, with some conversations running until three in the morning.
- Escorted to bed — at the end of filming, cast members are taken to their rooms to sleep. Then it all starts again.
Former cast members from the US version have described coming out of the process sleep-deprived, and given the maths — up to 15 potential matches, 10 days, one proposal — it's not hard to see why.
What can they actually see?
Nothing, really. The pods are roughly 12 feet by 12 feet — 20 of them in total, 10 per side — each kitted out with a couch, a rug, and a glowing blue shared wall.
As US host Nick Lachey once described it, all a dater can make out is "a very vague silhouette of what's happening on the other side."
The connection is voice only, which is rather the point.
What happens after the pods?
The engaged couples meet, jet off on a retreat, move in together, and plan a wedding — all in a matter of weeks, which is why each season's altar scenes feel so close to the pod scenes. Season 1 rolled out on Netflix from 7 to 26 August 2024 across 12 episodes including the reunion, and season 2 followed from 13 to 27 August 2025.
Ten days to find a spouse. Some people take longer to choose a sofa.
