HBO put The White Lotus season 4 in the first half of 2027 - earlier than the gap that followed every previous season
The White Lotus Season 4 has a fresh release-date update — and it points to the HBO show returning sooner than you were expecting.
If you thought The White Lotus was going to keep us hanging about for years on end, looks like you can breathe a bit easier. HBO are already starting to nail down details for the show's next lavish holiday of chaos – and, quite honestly, it could arrive sooner than most had expected.
First-half 2027 is when The White Lotus is expected back on HBO.

This little nugget of news came from Casey Bloys – that's the top boss at HBO – who was chatting with Deadline and, without a whole lot of ceremony, dropped the timeframe: the 'first half of ’27'. No faffing around with cryptic PR talk, thankfully. It's vague, but it's definitely not as far-off as it could've been, considering production schedules and the usual HBO slowness.
On top of that, Bloys hinted there are 'a few nice surprises' in store for season four. That's as far as he went, though, so what counts as a 'nice surprise' is anyone's guess. A returning favourite? Someone gets through a whole week at the hotel without dying? Stranger things have happened.
Cannes, Cast Swaps & Cancellations
Each season, Mike White's anthology hops to a new, suitably luxurious part of the globe, dragging a fresh set of privileged nightmares along for the ride. This time, the White Lotus check-in desk is setting up in Cannes. The series has already had a run through Hawai'i, Thailand, and Sicily, so you can just imagine the Instagram posts – and the dysfunctional disasters.
- Heather Graham, Steve Coogan, Tobias Santelmann, Frida Gustavsson, Alexander Ludwig, Vincent Cassel, Chloe Bennet, Rosie Perez, Kumail Nanjiani, Chris Messina, Laura Smet, Max Greenfield, Ari Graynor, Sandra Bernhard, Ben Schnetzer, AJ Michalka, and Jarrad Paul all signed up for series regular chaos.
- New faces this series: Caleb Jonte Edwards, Charlie Hall, Corentin Fila, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Marissa Long, and Dylan Ennis.
- Coming in for recurring appearances: Ben Kingsley, Pekka Strang, and Max Minghella.
If you’d heard rumours about Helena Bonham Carter (not exactly a stranger to the bonkers holiday crowd) joining the series, you weren’t dreaming. She was attached at one point but had a falling out over creative direction with Mike White, and has left the project. Her role didn’t just vanish, though – Laura Dern is stepping in. Dern had a very brief voice cameo in the second season, but this time she’s actually getting a proper, entirely new character, written just for her. Apparently it all came together after Carter’s departure.
There’s also chatter (that’s all it is, for now) that beloved survivors from earlier seasons could show up – specifically, Jon Gries's Greg, Natasha Rothwell's Belinda, and Nicholas Duvernay's Zion. No official confirmation yet, but if anyone’s going to end up with an unexpected turn-down service from the past, it’s this series.
